My New mag

Loving it I see. Any movement? Or maybe it is happy where it is?

It did move the next day. I woke up to find it on the bottom of my tank and it took out a few SPS frags in the process ( casualties I'll accept for this animal). I have a jebao wavemaker and I had it on else mode, similar to reef crest on the vortecs, I feel it was to constant of a flow and it was swaying like crazy, since then I switched it to wave mode and it seems much happier and hasn't moved again yet. Fingers crossed

Well it moved again. Found it at the bottom of the tank by the back wall. Not sure if it's to much flow, not random enough or lighting. I have Chinese black box leds and it's 165w max and dimmable. I currently have it at 50% white and 80% blue. I know the usually only move when unhappy but I don't know what's ****ing it off? I took a short vid so maybe some mag keepers can identify any issues they see. TIA

It can feel the back wall. It moved down to climb the wall. Bring your whites up some, that is if it is back on top of the pedestal. Otherwise it will climb the wall to get closer to the light.

Thanks worm, I rescaped the rockwork to move it out further from the back wall and increased the whites. After doing that last night the lights were only on for another two hours but it seemed happy, I'll know more today after a full light cycle.

Very good. All it takes is a brush with a tentacle and the know how close they are to anything. LOL

Yes see how the lights are. Also how was/is the flow there compared to the edge of the wall?

If you have not already, find a way to screen your powerheads while the mag is wandering.

I did not catch that in that second video. WOW.. I must have been looking at the tentacles swirling around. I usually catch those items.

YES... please cover that powerhead up. Even if you have to use a competitor cover, it will still do the job.

Thanks guys. It hasn't moved yet but at times I see half the foot on the rock like it wants to move but can't grab anything to move on to. Is it possible the rock isn't large or flat enough for the nem and it needs a bigger rock?

Ok. So it doesn't move at all when the lights are off, I work nights so my light cycle starts late so I can enjoy the tank when I'm off. I looks full wavy and happy when the tank is dark but as soon as the LEDs come on it's on the move. I know mags love strong light but I'm thinking and please correct me if I'm wrong since it was in a tank for 3yrs with T5s which has a much broader spread and now it's under LEDs with more of a direct light could it be the lights are ****ing it off? I had it originally at 80% blue and 60% white and then I cranked both up too 100% with no changes, meaning it's still moving. I'm at work now and the wife called to tell me it moved again and she put it back on it's rock. I'm running out of ideas so I told her to drop the whites to 40% and blues to 60% and see if it stays put. Since it doesn't move when the lights are off I think I can rule out flow issues and narrow it down to lighting.

Well. It is happy with the lighting, hence it stays put.

If the flow is making it mad then it might be moving to get better flow.

I mean at the beach I will stay put if there is breeze and the sun is out. On a partialy cloudy day I will move to where the breeze is blocked some.

Well it looks like it was the lighting. I kept the intensity up but lowered the rock so the nem sits deeper in the tank, it's been 3 days and it hasn't budged.

Very nice. I have been looking for one like that! I offered someone a bounce mushroom and he didn't want to trade.
