My New Picasso pair... What grade?

I got these guys from Live Aquarias Divers Den last week. They didnt have a grade listed for them and are still really young/small. I dont know a whole lot about grading Picassos other than I think its based on the amount of white present?

What grade would you guys estimate them at?

Also, I know the black will fill in with age but will the white also spread out more? Can/will the white patches merge together over time or are they pretty much set?

Thanks for the info guys!

Pretty sure both are A's, at least the female is for sure, and she looks really nice.(top one)
Orange areas should get darker, white usually stays the same unless they are small dots, which sometimes become black.
I guess grades are needed to define them for sales, but really I don't pay much attention to grades, just love the random patterns.
That females right side is going to look killer when she darkens!

Thanks Boss!

Ya I was sold on the females right side its pretty unique! I cant wait to see them a couple years from now...

females right side is a grade A, the other side and the male is a grade B. "A" is defined as one or more "white" stripe is joined. ex: as in the right side of the female, the middle white stripe and the back are joined in the middle.
DOesn't matter what "grade" as long as they're beautiful to you..

^^ Ah, I may have misunderstood that as two stripes connecting from left side to right side all the way around, not two stripes connected to each other on both sides, but I guess that would make sense.
I suppose I really should know this by now, guess that shows how much I care about the grading system!lol

To reiterate, in order to be a grade A, both sides need to have white that connect. So, in this case, both fish are grade B. As you may know, grades don't take into consideration body shape. All grades do is classify the pattern -- therefore I think the word "grade" is misused because it implies a higher level of quality.

Gotcha, good to know. So as they age is their potential for the whites to eventually connect or are they set as is and will just fill in with black? If that even makes sense lol.

The white area of your fish have very clear borders, no fuzzy, indistinct borders. The indistinct white borders are the area of increase white coloration. The black areas will grow and get darker but you fish have finish white area growth. There will not be more white as it get older and larger.

It's funny, I was broke as a joke when I got my picasso's, I was trying to sell an old euroreef skimmer for cash on here when Doni from Donisreef offered to send me a hand picked pair to trade.
Knowing now what I did not know back then I got pretty darn lucky.
One thing they do not seem to be able to grade is personality, and after almost 5 years that is what I have grown to love most about mine, first clowns ever that don't bite stuff, mainly me!
I can place a rock for egg laying, pick up that rock and they just look at me, nothing aggro about em, love it.

Haha, ya I am hoping they don't turn into aggressive clowns as I've had them in the past and it drove me crazy!

You're suggesting that extensive inbreeding could have a negative affect on the disposition or temperament of an animal ?

Nah, never happen.

I didn't pick up on that from his comment at all, and in actuality there are plenty of WC clowns that are much more aggressive typically speaking.
I think if anything TB clowns seem more passive.

I'm not sure where you drew that conclusion from based on my post.

I was simply saying I have had aggressive clowns in the past and it is quite annoying. As juveniles they were passive but with age became dominant/aggressive thus why I am crossing my fingers that the juvi picassos do not become this way as they age.

Just wanted to update you all with my Picasso's progress. Here they are now 2 years later!

Nice. Tank raised designer clowns used to be so much better in quality than they are today. Things changed quickly and not in a good way in clownfish breeding.

Yeah I hear ya, morph this, cross breed that, who gives a shart Id rather keep it old school and clean cut...
