My New Pink Ritteri Anemone!

hey guys,

I picked up a nice pink with white tip ritteri today for my tank. I put it about mid way up with decent flow. It has set down there and taken hold of the rock. Any of you guys have ritteri's? How long do they usually take to fully open and extend out? I will attach some pics on another post

It can take a ritteri a week or so to acclimate to the point that it is eating, from my experience.

Looking forward to the pics.

good luck with it! By the looks of the lack of coralline, it looks like you have a pretty new tank there for one of the toughest nems to keep. I failed with mine, even though it was readily eating right away.

I agree that pic makes it really hard to tell its a ritteri. Are those clowns going right into it? I've never seen an occelaris that can say no to a ritteri, but I can't get mine to go near my BTA.

Yea, now I actually think it is a bubble tip... since the tips are like bubbles. And I cant find any pics of H Magnifica online that have bubble tips at all. My clowns havent gone in it yet. However, there was a ritteri at the store I was at that was in a different tank the three ocellaris were all hosting it, they didnt want to come out

Often times ocellaris will choose a BTA to host them. It's true that H. magnifica is a natural host and they will opt for H. magnifica over a BTA if they have the choice, but generally they will take to a BTA in time. Again, it looks healthy and BTAs are a great choice because they tend to be hardy and often assexually reproduce in captivity. Good luck with it.
