My New Pink Ritteri Anemone!

hey guys,

I picked up a nice pink with white tip ritteri today for my tank. I put it about mid way up with decent flow. It has set down there and taken hold of the rock. Any of you guys have ritteri's? How long do they usually take to fully open and extend out? I will attach some pics on another post

Is this for your 40 gallon that already has a BTA and an LTA?

What type of lights do you have? Pink in color doesn't sound all that great too me, might be a touch bleached.

Lastly, is this the tank that has a copperband in it?

BTW -- non of your links worked, even if I took out the extra "http"
 
hey, yea they are in the same tank. I sold the copperband. The BTA is very small and up high and away from the others, the LTA is lower and away from the others and this one is about mid way up and with good room between both.

I think you might have a BTA there instead of a ritteri. Column pics would help to id, but it doesn't look like a H. magnifica.
 
it may seem like that because it is nestled down. It the store it was extended out with a think stalk and looked much more like a ritteri. It has very distinguished white tips like i have seen on many ritteri and not many bubble tips
 
Mine never have looked like that, but more pics will make it clearer, especially the column. Either way, it looks healthy.
 
yea, it has settled down into the rock, cant see column right right now. Will be able to until it extends out. but it is fairly long when extended out and a pinkish color
 
If that is a Mag ( doesn't look like any that I have seen ), that isn't going to be enough light for it. I would expect it to start climbing fairly soon.
 
yea. we'll i think youre right about it being a bubble tip. Because right now the tips are all like bubbles are you can see in the pictures.. haha O well. Still a very cool anemone. And i've looked up a lot of picso f H magnifica and none of them have bubble tips on their tentacles at all
 
2nd the BTA id. Besides the bubble tips on the tentacles, a mag wouldn't have sunk its foot into a crevice. It is much better suited for your tank than a mag would have been. Good luck.

Nice picture, but the ID of the anemone is wrong. Its a E. quadricolor (BTA). Just because it is on the internet, doesn't mean that its correct.

If the person taking the picture knew a lot about anemones, he/she would know that Radianthus ritteri hasn't been a valid name for H. magnifica since before there was a World Wide Web.
 
Thanks for all the info. It looks very nice now. A little more used to the tank. Opened up pretty well. Hopefully my clowns will begin to host it in the next few weeks. They have been sitting above it and looking at it, and sweeping by to check it out. I will post more pics in a week or so when it is completely acclimated and open
