My new regal angel!

Outerbank

After waiting for years, I hope I have finally found a good specimen . I just bought this from DD today. I am thinking he will arrive Tuesday! The QT is cycled and ready. It's not a yellow belly, but I will take it!!

Awesome pick up!! I just ordered a juvi regal myself from my LFS.
I will probably have to wait an extra week due to the holiday.
How much was he. I've been looking on there forever for one.
Post some pics when it arrives.

Wow, how the heck did you grab him so fast!?

I checked right when I got the e-mail and he was sold! I'm glad he's going to a good home :)

I knew it would go fast when I saw the sneak peak. If I was home I would have tried as well. Good luck with it, please post pics when it comes in!

Sweet looking fish. I don't know much about angels. Is the yellow belly a regional variation in the species?

Yellow belly regals are from the red sea. IMO, the yellow bellies look bolder and are said by some to be easier to acclimate into captivity. None the less, all regals look great and one of the most important issues is to get a young healthy specimen.

Great fish! What corals do you plan to keep with him, only SPS?
I have a very large queen, and it will only eat soft corals that I place at the bottom of the tank.
It might be interesting to try some other types a little higher in the tank just to see if he tries to eat them.

Isn't it most yellow-bellies are from the Red Sea? There are few yellow Indo's, SDguy's Regal that jumped was a yellow-Indo IIRC.

But definitely agree it doesn't matter blue or yellow, all Regals are awesome. With some of the odd pricing on DD lately, you got an awesome fish for a great price!

Mine was labeled as "Indian Ocean"... must have been from an area close to the adjoining Red Sea, since it looked like a Red Sea specimen, without the price tag.

Gorgeous fish, Outerbank! Congrats!

Keep your tank covered!!! :fun4:

My tank is mostly sps. I have anthelia and xenia, but I spend a hour every month or so thinning them out (anthelia is much harder to remove than xenia). I wouldn't mind too much if he takes a liking to these corals. My sump/refugium is just a 75 gallon DSB tank lit with a 250watt MH. I always place certain corals/clams into the sump/refugium.

I got a Regal from Live Aquaria from Vanuatua sp? that also had an eye spot and was about 3.5". He was very healthy and ate everything including pellets. I had him for 1 1/2 years but recently lost him after having ich introduced into the tank : ( I am on the hunt for another one.

Anyway my point is you got a good one and it should live for many years. Congrats.

Thanks Amanda, but I am sorry to hear about your loss. Mine was collected from the same area as yours, Vanuatu. Good luck on your search!

So far so good

So far, so good. Here is a quick update. The fish is in the QT, pretty aggressively eating PE mysis, NFS (New Life Spectrum) marine pellots, and tetra Microcrabs cyclop-eeze granules. What he does not eat immediately he will eat off the bottom. IMO, fish that are difficult to adapt are best kept by themself in a bare bottom QT until ready to add to the DT. It allows them to take time eating and explore the bottom for any food. It is also easy to siphon when performing water changes.

Here are several pics. The first one when he arrived on 12-01-09 and then a couple from late tonight. Kudos to Divers Den for such great service. The packaging on this fish was excellent and it arrived in excellent condition.

Picture quality is poor. I need to borrow or finally purchase a nice digital DSR.
