Well I traveled 250 miles north of me to pick this guy up near Chicago. He is a Red Sea Regal that has been in captivity for 4 years and eats all types of prepared foods. He is still a little skiddish as he is adapting to his new surroundings, but he is already pecking around, looking for food. i would say he is just under 4". He is absolutely flawless. Sorry for the bad picks and dirty glass. Taken while he was temp acclimating after the drip acclimation.

Gorgeous fish. Not that it matters, but how "positive" are you that its a Red Sea fish? WAY too often I see Regals labelled as "Red Sea", merely becuase of the non-grey chest. Like I said, not that it matters, but it seems a rather unproveable claim.

Well because fish dont have papers, I cant prove it, but it was purchased by the original owner 4yrs ago as a Red Sea. They have been extremely rare in the last couple years, but 4 yrs ago they were not near as tough to aquire. But all in all, as long as it is a beautiful healthy fish, the eats well.... he can be from anywhere!

Yeah, I guess that my point- who cares where its from. Its all heresay, and with this species, heresay rules the roost.

"Red Sea Regal" just sounds cool. Much better than "Yellow Belly Regal". Since it cant be proved either way, Ill stick to Red Sea, since that is what it was purchased as.

Yes, very light color between the eyes. You can see the stripes and very little black. It looks just like the one in your picture as far as the eyes are concerned.

True,
4 years ago Saudi was still open and collecting them by the hundreds.
I'll never forget those top quality regals , we put a couple in a show tank and they were eating out of my hands a couple of days after they were imported.

Jeremy is right, these days there are people who are labelling indian ocean regals as Red Sea.
