On the right side, i made a built in refugium for pods to breed. I use to have the horses in a 90 gallon, but they all the pods to extenction. This way here, there is a safe place for them. I also have about 5 mangroves over there, waiting for them to root to the rocks.

I have the sides seperated by a peice of plexi glass, I have about 30 holes drilled near the bottom.
The skimmer pulls water from the main tank, and pours it into the fuge. The few bubbles that do make it out of the skimmer into the water cant get to where the sea horses are.

I have some kelp, maidens grass, and seagrass in there to help keep the nitrates down. I have a several differnt types of snails, and a few blue legged crabs.

I noticed a bristleworm in there today, so im going to grab me an arrorow crab. After a week or two, ill just put him in the 90 since I probablly have some worms in that tank. (the tupperware container is a home made bristle worm trap, ignore that.

Suggestions and comments always welcome!

its a cyclone 150 skimmer, what ever pump that feeds, feeds the fuge. The tank has been setup for about a month, and in the fuge theres like 1,000,000 copeopods, and after the lights go out, I always see a ton of anthiopods.

Sorry I havent had time to post recently, ive been dealin with a nitrate spike, and doing water changes daily to cut them down, there finally to 20, I can sleep ok tonight, but i will be happier when there at 10.

Check out the new pair i bought.. Ive had them for 4 days, and I think the male is now preagnent. Take a look at the pic and let me know what you think!

WOW, very nice. im really like the pair. beautiful. how are you doing with the fry? can u post some pics of the fry tank set up? thanks

the fry in that tank made it 16 days. Then a rotifer/phyto crash they all died. However, they had another batch 21 days later. I am working on documenting it all and will post it on here shortly. This batch is doing much better then the last with a few modifications to my setup.

That's a very interesting setup. Sorry I missed this thread.

How is the separation on the tank going? I have two large piles of rocks in my system about 20" high with a spraybar that goes through them. It has worked very well for me in giving the critters a place to breed, and the flow helps to elimintate detritus.

If you continue to have nitrate problems you might look at doing something similiar to help move the flow through the rocks. If it's no longer a problem I would worry not.

Beautiful horses. Very nice tank.

Re: My new seahorse tank pics

I think its a great set up, biut if I may add I think it could use some plants. Live if you have the lights. My sea horses love to play in them>
