My New Tank is here!!!

I have seen people mount their controllers like that before. My question is this. If you mount it in the door exposed inside the stand, will you have issues with the salt? If salt was a problem and you flush mounted it inside the door but covered the back of it on the sides and top with a hinged box that was open on the bottom and cold swing up to service or attach peripherals, do you think you would have heat issues with it being partially enclosed? When I get a controller down the road, I would like to flush mount it also and was just wondering.

I know the Steeler emblems would be a little much for me also ...now Penn State emblems would be something I would consider..

I don't think so. I've never really had a salt creep issue... you only get salt creep where water splashes, so you can minimize it by eliminating any areas where you may get some splashing. Also, you can create some lips out of acrylic or plastic that rest on the sump above areas where you may get some splashing, or bubbles bursting in order to block the spray from hitting any vital pieces of equipment.

Heat shouldn't be an issue either, the tank will be cooled by some mountable fans on the display. Also, the back of the stand is open. If I begin to experience some rising temps, I will simply add another fan over the return area of the sump in a similar fashion as melev does. I have a 4" IceCap fan, and I may actually try this out first before adding anything onto the display. However, since the tank is rimless, and there is no canopy... I really don't foresee heat becoming an issue.

Marc also mounted his ACIII unit in a really cool fashion with something similar to what you are talking about... I swear... his garage must secretly be an acylic warehouse... he uses it for EVERYTHING.

That is one nice display/overflow/stand - please keep us up to date wiith LOTS of picture please :)
Thank you... designing it took a little bit of time, but it turned out fantastic! I can't wait to see it in action.

I'll updated pics here and there, but if you want to see all the nitty gritty details, I chart everything on my build thread in the "Reef Discussion" forum.

Placed the sump into the stand, and test fit a few pieces of equipment.

Emergency drain on far left... I forgot to mention it, but the emergency line is 1" PVC the entire length. The HGB drain lines step up, and empty into a common 1.5" drain line just below the box.

Thank you. Once the rockwork is in, fish are going to be added pretty quickly... then once I get a hang of the Ca Reactor setup, I'll begin moving corals over.

Very nice clean setup!
Thanks... I may try to drain it here in a little, and move it to its final destination. I had it in the middle of the room for a leak test, so that I had easy access to inspect all the plumbing.

Hey...I see some stuff in the tank. That's exciting. Just love the clean look of the entire rimless setup.
Thanks... I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to wait out a cycle now though. I added about 30lbs of new rock yesterday, so I'm going to have to monitor the levels for a while. I'm hoping that I should be good in about a week, but I'm not sure if my established live rock brought enough bacteria in with it.
