Looks awesome, TJ! Are you doing it barebottom, or going with substrate?

Be careful with that acrylic, man.

Also, a suggestion. You should see if you can get a cover made for your overflow box. Otherwise, you will get algae growing in there. When I had my acrylic tank, I had a cover cut out of ABS which worked perfectly.

Keep those pictures coming!

I was thinking about going BB, but I like the look of sand too much. So I think I'm going to throw about 1/2" - 1" just to cover the bottom.

Tell me about it... I need to find some special cloths or something, because I have no idea what I'm going to use on it yet. I'm scared to even touch it.

Yep... Keith is working on one for me... I just didn't think about it until last minute, because I ended up changing my overflow design at the last minute as well.

I need to order all my plumbing supplies now... I was just going to use Lowes, but I'm actually leaning towards using Savko for all my bulkheads, valves, unions, etc... now, so that's going to slow me down a few days while they are shipped.

how much was that? its very nice
Thank you. Wasn't cheap, but a good bit less than I would have paid for it if I would've went with a "name brand" custom acrylic tank builder. It came out beautiful... I couldn't be happier. :)

Hell, that one looks better than the last one... Nice...
Thanks, the last one was just supposed to be used as a frag tank and an overflow was added to it in case I ever wanted to pull it off the system.

Since this was going to be used as a display, a lot more planning went into it. I am VERY pleased with how it turned out. I can't wait to see this overflow in action!

Now just dont drop it :)
Haha... yeah we took our time carrying it in, and didn't leave it out in the cold overnight. Also... we set it directly on the floor this time instead of trying another balancing act.

Looks nice. Have you thought of maybe painting the bottom instead of sand, I also heard about a panel you can cut to fit the bottom that has the look of sand. I will try to find that link that mentions it. Also has anyone tried making a panel with sand glued onto the surface somehow. They put sand on paper so you'd think there might be a reef safe alternative. Just an idea to maybe keep that acrylic 100%.

It's "Starboard" or basically HDPE cutting board material. You can silicone it into the bottom of the tank. Eventually it becomes covered in coraline anyway though.

I just like look and texture of the sand. Plus I also enjoy the burrowing inverts and fish as well. I'm hoping to put a few different pairs of shrimpgobies/pistol shrimp in the tank.

My tank is bare bottom with Arctic White CPG Seaboard (textured haircell HDPE) on the bottom. I like the look and clean-up aspect but I cannot have the little sand sifting /burrowing creatures. I may add sand in the future.

Yeah, I get what you are talking about, with the look and texture of the sand. I have thought about taking mine out because of the snow globe effect when fish kick it around but can't seem to get the will to vac it up. I guess with acrylic you'll have to be careful anyways so might as well have the look of sand too.

The way my powerheads and returns are set-up right now... all of the junk accumulates in the front left corner. I then vac it out through a filter sock into a bucket or vac it out during a water change. Sometimes I even use a Magnum 350 to vac things out.
