My new tank is in (the garage)

All Acro frags at the moment, doing ok. Two out of Five made it the first round, and three for three this month. The tank is still young, but getting better.

ken do you have a stockman or durso in the overflow? what size, and how much flow you think your getting from the overflow.

Thanks,
greg.

Greg, I have neither on the overflow. I found that if you ram as much water as you can down the drain, it quiets itself down :D I think I'm putting around 1700 gph thru it. I have an Amp Master 3000 as my return pump, but it's valved back quite a bit.

OK, It was ID'd by the man himself "It is Paracheilinus mccoskeri, the McCosker's Flasher Wrasse, male that comes from the Indian Ocean."

Ken how you like those reef ceramics? was thinking of getting some. Kinda expensive, you think there worth it.
any new pix of your tank?

Thanks,
greg

Are they worth it................. heck yes!

It's a personal thing. I love the look of rock on the back of a deep tank. It give it even more depth after they color up and look like regular rock. I'm planing on putting clams on some of the ledges. They are expensive, but I got a deal on two of them. Another reason I only have them on one side of the tank. If you compare them to LR, they aren't really much more.

New pictures? Not much of anything new to take pictures of. I got a few test frags from Dave B., ReeferMadness (club raffle), and Gho's frag swap. I may take some this weekend.

Maybe we should do a group buy on this stuff, Would save alot on shipping i would guess. Ill post a thread on sc forum maybe we can get some response.

koko, without a doubt, the Reefceramic back wall pieces are awesome. They create a look that is just a pain to make otherwise. Well worth IMO.

The only thing about the back wall, I was thinking, is that it kinda makes the other rocks get camuflaged against the back. That's ok, i guess, but maybe if they had something that would just out from the back, like an arch that came out of the back wall. That would be really cool! :D

Lar's, with a depth of 30" the back wall doesn't take away from the foreground rock at all. Unfortunately, pictures don't portray the feeling you get from standing in front of the tank, but it really adds depth to the tank. Like I said, it's a personal thing.
I could see it distracting from the look of an 18" tank.

I do think that you can get arches from captive oceans and work them into a back plate, that would be cool!

yeah and pigs might fly out.... never mind. You missed a great meeting Ken. Dave wore a skirt, Chuck hung a swamp cooler in a tree to **** off his neighbors, we laughed about "amonier", Shelby and her parents made a guest appearance, free dinner, and only a slight ice cream fight broke out. Maybe next time you can make it, I mean you are part of the board and all....:)

Try as I might Dave, it's the last week of school and I had to deal with award presentations for one of my kids, and a girlscout ceremony for the other one. This weeks not any better with graduation, all the grandma's showing up, and a few other things I would love to forget over a 1/2 gallon of rum :D

I miss the 15 hour days I was working not so long ago......................

Worst part is, my tank is still 95% empty, and I keep missing the great tours of places, and opportunities to pick up incredible corals. :(

oh yeah, I forgot to mention the big beautifull blue ridge coral that was floating for hours at Daves...nah it's safe her waiting for ya

Yea, that was really a lot of fun, I hope we can do that again sometime. Maybe Dave will host another frag swap in the summer months. Wish you could have been there Ken! :)

Ken,
any recent full tank shots? i'd like to see how your tank and rubble bottom is coming along.

John, no new pictures as there isn't much change. Coralline is growing everywhere, and the reefceramics are changing to a more natural color. I haven't added much coral yet as my first few test pieces didn't fare to well. The rubble bottom so far has worked out great! Small piles of detritus build up in places that are easily siphoned out during water changes. I'm sure it would be the same if it was just straight BB.

I may take some new pictures this weekend if I can find some time to make them interesting.

Ok Ken, since you have no new pics, its time for a temporary hijack. Going to have to start another thread here, but just a little too busy at the moment...

Here's the 150 Lee-Mar Project underway:

And the residents had to be put up somewhre for the night while the powder coating gets done...

I actually found out later from one of the guys at work that I could have got it a lot cheaper and wouldnt have to drive around with 100lbs of aluminum for a week if I had gone to his buddy who has a full machine shop/fab buisness. The things you find out after the fact... :D
