just know that your urchin will eat your purple coraline..and they are like bulldosers, just like the turbo snails they will get in areas and knock stuff over.

yeah i know it will eat the coraline too but i would rather have no coraline and no GHA than have coraline and GHA growing all over. so far they are mowing down the GHA.

It looks like a couple of strands of bypropis in the algea picture. if it is, remove that piece of rock and bleach it.

man going well.. gotta give to u. u got guts for puttin tat tank on 2nd story. and man its glass must be heavy as hell carryin the tank up there

i asked around and just about everyone i talked to said a 125 should be fine upstairs as long as the floor joyces were perpandicular to the tank which it turns out they are. floor seems to be holding up just fine and i even have 3 3o gallon water tubs one for RO top off water and one for additional salt wat sitting right next to it too.

i started sorting out the additional rock that will be going into the tank in a little while. I am going to soak it in RO water for a while than move it into salwater for a bit before adding it to the tank. got some pretty cool lokking pieces.

I would paint the back either flat black or blue. Makes a big difference. Looks great!

yeah i wanted to do it black but my wife argued with me. now i think she agrees we should have done it. How the heck can you do it now though? theres only a few inches between the tank and the wall now and no way to move it.

Either get one of those thin paint rollers for such tight spots (they're like an inch or an inch and a half in diameter), or most aquarium stores have background paper that you can tape to the back -- on one side is a picture of an aquascape but the other side is either all black, all blue, or a gradient of blue. I've also heard of black contact paper being used.

The issue would be reaching across the whole thing. The right side is against a rail that is above about a 15 ft drop to the lower level so i can't paint from that side. Taping up a black background could work though.

This tank has a blue background from the LFS. This particular background is great because it has blue on one side & black on the other.

Easy to apply (throw it over the top and secure at both sides) and easy to change if you want something different. I've had painted tanks as well, but prefer the removable backgrounds. If you can't find a colour you like at the LFS you can also cut a piece of wood or plexi to fit & paint that then secure it in place.

Great looking tank, it's coming along nicely!

i added a bunch more rock that i have been cycling to my tank tonight as well as a black background.

Alright so here is before.....

A little frogspawn. hopefully it doesn't become lunch for my butterfly. it is pretty closed up from the transport. if it lasts there was a gigantic on at the lfs i want to get.

i also got a hippo tang. its pretty good size. i have all the lights out while it acclimates and it is hanging in the back right now so its hard to get pictures.

a little FTS glass is a little messy from all the playing around in it and getting drips on the glass. I also added 2 koralia 2 powerheads to hit some dead areas after adding the rock.

Quick question on where u got ur RO/DI unit, I'm planning to get one myself but theres too many choices out there and the most I'm worry about is having to a booster pump which can cost a pretty penny. How did u have ur unit hook up with through a faucet, washer line, or what. Thanks nice set up on the rocks btw. Also if u still want to get that lionfish I would advise against that especially with ur cute pair of clown fish u have. Also I wouldn't glue the rocks, I like having the option of moving things in. Heres a picture of my tank also on my crappy iphone camera. All the rocks are removable.

i got my RO unit on ebay fomr filters direct's store. last i looked they had more of them listed on there. I just hooked mine up though my kitchen faucet by tapping into the cold water line and then running the waste hose into the drain pipe.

some of my rocks are glued but most arent. the ones that are can be easily seperated.
