My new tank.

Reeefer - The bacteria that I'm adding to my tank help to reduce nitrate and phosphate levels. I have been having nitrates between 15-20 lately and they won't go down so I thought I would give something new a try. I don't know anything about vitamin C dosing so can't comment there.

Thanks for the quick explanation Shayne(spelling?)

Oh, I thought the new tank was good to go. Everything looks very happy. Definitely some great polyp extension. I purchased the Microbacter from Carlos when I set up my 125. He told me it would still do me good to add on water change days going forward. Regarding Vitamin C dosing, there's a great thread on here regarding that. Very similar to Vodka dosing from what I understand. I had nitrate and phosphate issues prior to dosing and it diminished my levels to zero in under a month.

Everything is doing fine and growing well. I just don't like that I have such high nitrates. I don't have a way to accurately measure phosphate so I don't even know where that is. I would like to get the lighter colors out of my sps which is a side effect to such low nutrients when dosing bacteria and a carbon source. I wasn't aware that dosing vitamin c was for reducing nitrates. I thought it had something to do with making zoas look better.

Drop the "y" and you got it:thumbsup:
As far as dosing vitamin C, it would simply be an alternative to your vodka dosing...Dosing vodka tends to promote cyano so some prefer vitamin C instead.

Good to know. Thank you.

And my tank today. I'm gonna be moving soon so i'm removing my sand with water changes til it's bare. It'll be easier to move that way. And I think I like barebottom the best. I also broke all corals off of the rocks and attached them to frag plugs. Needless to say, everything is angry with me.

eh. If I see something I can't pass up then it doesn't count. The racks are for all of my other corals too. I didn't want them encrusting onto the rocks since ill be moving soon. It's going to make it a lot easier on the corals than if I was to bust them off the rocks and move the system on the same day.

First off, your tank looks amazing! Second, can you give a little insight to your maintenance schedule. And lastly, I was cracking up because you started by saying how you needed to not go crazy with corals. Then 50 pics of new corals! Ha! ;) now that's an addict! Looks great!

Kataro - The granulosa hasn't grown at all :(. No updated pics.

tdp22 - Thank you very much. I have a bit of an issue right? We all do.

My maintenance schedule goes as follows
Daily -
3-4 drops of Microbacter7 split into two doses (morning and night)
currently at 2.5ml of vodka. again, split into two doses.
5ml of calcium
7-10ml of magnesium
Feed the fish x3-8 (this is why I dose vodka. I like fat fish)
Clean skimmer cup

Weekly
1 drop of Iodine
2, 5 gallon water changes spread evenly apart throughout the week when I have time.
Test Alk, Cal, Mag, No3, ph, SG
Wipe glass

Every two weeks
Change carbon
Take skimmer out for cleaning
Siphon the detritus out of sump

Monthly
Vortech wet side gets cleaned.

And every six months I like to take all pumps out and clean them with a vinegar solution.

I think that about covers everything.

Ah I see, is the tip blue like at Pet Inc yet?

And nice, you do 1 drop per 10 gallon on the MB7? I only do 4 drops per day on mine lol

Not blue. The tips have turned purple for me. The frag will be going to a friend of mine later today. We'll see how it does in his tank.

Yeah, I add quite a bit of MB7. My tank is still "high" nutrient level though. And I don't see any adverse effects yet so I'll keep it at that rate.
