Thanks Mihn. Were not talking alot of weight up on top. Dousing stuff, dry food, meters and testing supplys is about it. It turned out really nice. Makes the tank look really small.
That is one tall canopy!!! I like the storage for dosing equipt and stuff. I thought about trying to rig something so I could have a refugium above the tank and storage. I don't think it would have looked nearly as good as that though. LOL
Im thinking it will look smaller when its stained and has the doors on. Because the stand and canopy are within 1/2 inch of being the same size. The stand really looks quite a bit smaller though and i think its the dark stain.
Well finding stain to match the color of the stand is proving to be quite a challenge. I took one of the doors to a specialty paint store who said they could color match stains. It ended up with a phone call from them saying it was to dark a color of stain and they had no base to be able to match it. So hopefully I can find someplace else that can do it or ill be shooting in the dark looking for colors that can get it close.
On some brighter notes. I made 2 screens with bird netting to cover the tank yesterday so no more egg create for me!
Also I took the plunge and ordered my controller this morning. I bought a ACjr w/dc8 and temp probe. Picked it up for a good price so im happy with my find.
The plumbing still isnt finished hopefully ill make that penetration out to the patio tomarrow. I really wanna get it filled with fresh water to leak check it.
Ill get some pictures when I have something done worthy of them lol.
Its been a while since my last update and with the big change over this weekend I thought I would give an update. The plumbing is like 98% done just have some work outside the house for the chiller but other than that its done. Still have to mount the lights, power, and fans (which I will do on moving day) inside the canopy. But all and all its ready. The doors are on order from Home Depot and will be here by christmas lol. Not really but they gave me a 35 day lead time on the invoice but the rep said "oh they should be here in 2-3 weeks. So like I said by Christmas. Anyway heres some pictures.
The Canopy all stained up and looking purdy.
No more egg crate for me. heres my nice birdnet screens.
The brain center only thing missing is the Ranco controller. But its still working hard on the 110 so that will have to wait till Sunday.
And the rats nest begins but at least im making the attemp to keep it semi-clean with zip ties.
Under tank shot with all the plumbing and UV. It turned out pretty clean.
Found the perfect auto top off container it fits perfectly in between the sump and the pump. Here it is with my float valve directly off my RODI system outside.
great idea for a auto top off system, plastic storage container, ive been trying to think about one also,i guess i was just thinking to hard?(container/cheap pump/float) excellant idea, thanks mikid!
Thanks Ginger. Been alot of work to do this I think this will be my last large tank lol.
John if your free Sunday feel free to stop by I promise I wont put you to work! To much anyway.
Mikid- Yeah It was so simple. I figured since I was plumbing the chiller outside because the thing is crazy loud i figured why not Tee off my RODI line and bring it into the house. I didnt want it directly pumped into the tank. Even if I had a float valve or someother way of stopping it. Didnt want to chance it at least this way the Aqua lifter has to accually pump the water out of the holding tank into the sump. Also no more running my top off bucket dry which I seem to do alot.
Well its running! All the fish, corals and equipment transfered sucessfully. But all the pictures from today were taken with Petes camera so im gonna have to wait untill he uploads them. I havent aquascaped yet. Been spending this evening just getting things dialed in.
I wanna give a HUGE thanks to Auntbeez, and Petes97 you guys really made this happen thank you so much for the help.
Lights on everyone wakey wakey. Had to put on my metal halides for the time being. The LED's were to long to fit under my canopy. They were 5' so that obiviously wouldnt work under a canopy on a 5' tank. So Tim is having someone modify them so they are 2" shorter.
