i used a drill to cut the opening out because it was so small... thats why it is not straight. i am painting the flake food container black as i type right now

snails cannot get into it, thats why my idea is so genious! the open spaces in the front are too small for any snail (besides those ugly hitchhiker ones) to get in!

this thing is pretty strong, it turned a 30 gallon tank into a tornado. it puts a very nice gentle rolling current allong the front of my 75 gallon tank though. which is what i made it for!

how much do you pay? the prop was $6 the power head was $19 and the flake food container was $2

tell me how much and ill make you one!

here are some action shots in the 75 gal.

i lied about the painting thing... ill do that later. i wanna play with it now :D

about the personal sales thing, Chad at GWA already ordered 75 of these puppies. so i am a little back ordered. But when i get done with those ill let you know. just to let you know, he is payin $35 ea.

c'mon Trottman, credit where credit is due.....

There is a huge thread in the DIY forum about this, these things have been modded like this for the past 6 months and a thousand posts or so. A+ for initiative, D- for originality.

BTW, these mods really do work, and put out a ton of flow for a small investment. Check out the real thread in the DIY forum for all you need to know....

Here's the other major RC thread:

i never said that it was my own idea! but i used my own parts and modded it myself in a few ways. you will find not one other single one done quite like mine. ((those all use air plane props, i use boat prop. there prop is in the middle, mine is in the front for maximum flow, i will never tell anyone where i got the rods from, its my own little secret. but no one else uses these rods. SO MINE IS ORIGINAL(Not the idea, but the way it is made is original)))

by the way all, i find out that the more/bigger the holes are in the prop shield, the more flow there is.

I'm sorry Trott, It is really cool that you made one of these. But I had mod'ed one of my Maxi jet's last year after reading up on a few diffrent threads about them. I just didn't have your luck. Mine worked for about 3 hours and then broke on me. I kind of have to agree that credit should be given where cedit is due. :(
