My newest project...

How many 1200s would you like? I might have as many as 5 or 6 extras (have to count to be sure). I'd love to work something out with you on the 900s. Put me down for two mods please!

Thanks!
Anna

I would be just wanting a couple, Anna. I haven't got the 900's in yet, but I am sure we can work something out. I am looking to mod at least 1-1200 and 2-900's (unless I end up swapping anna for the 900's for the 1200's)

Basically I want to get some nice flow going, but I don't want to get overkill and have a sandstorm in my tank. Think two 900s would be good in a 75?
Also, are you guys planning to do mag-float mounts at the get together? If not I'm sure I can handle those on my own.

Deluxe Kit gives you different shafts for different ways to do the mod, Like carbon fiber etc. If you have not done the mod before I suggest doing the first one the original way...so you understand the process. Then try a solid Carbon Fiber shaft mod.

just my 2cents worth

personally i find the plastic airline and stainless steel shaft provide the smallest amount of friction. the trick is getting a piece of the shaft (local welding supply shop) and driving around to petcos and looking for a piece of plastic airline that fits almost perfect. leave the carbon fiber to people who like to toy with stuff or don't have time to find the good plastic tube.

jbrunken is in now as well with 2-1200's. Good news, Just found the sch80 couplings and am getting some scrap pipe to make the PH attachment rings. I have thought about the front centering piece for a while and came up with a single pc of 1/4" solid plastic rod drilled through at the center of the end of the coupling to hold the steel rod of the impeller. I just need to find that type of rod. Let me know if anyone has better suggestions. This would be cheaper. The couplings were about $3 a pc.
I am not working on the steel rods, plastic tubes or props. Covey, were you working on this aspect? Can someone confirm. I bought 10 couplings, so we will be limiting it to that amount, unless there is a demand for more. That is why we will need to get a count pretty soon.

put me down for now. there is a chance i will have a conflict come up- but I should be able to make the building party.. I would enjoy coming and hanging out wiht you all. :)

Rare earth mags are the way to go.. I have been thinkign about putting in an order for several, if we get a few peopel together- it would make sence.. we could get the bigger ones, and have less visable in our tanks.. [you want N40 grade or higher :)] The lower N ratings .. stink basically...

this N45 mag is what I was thinking of :)

Would someone want to make 2- 1200 mods for me and I'll pay for the parts and shipping? I already have the maxi-jets.

Did I miss when you guys are doing this? I would love to have a few more. I have the one that Covey made for me and it can push some water. I think it needs some adjustment but it really can shread some xenia :)

The Date is proposed for Sept 10th. at 1pm in NW Davenport. I am sure that once we get building, it would be fairly easy to make a few extras as long as we have the parts that we need.

Maybe we need to get another post going to create a poll or something to get an accurate count of people and mods. But I have no idea about how to do this! Someone want to step up and have a go at being the leader?

It would be great to make the brackets for this as well all in the same shot. Maybe just get a good production line going and have each of us take on one part of the process to make things easy. Just like henry ford! But again, we need a count to make sure we are able to order in the correct amount of parts/props/magnets/housings you get the picture.

I am in...I am going to make 1. and would like to make a bracket of some kind that I can pivot the PH.

Maybe we could make it a club funraiser and make a bunch of them and sell them here on RC and on the website. Just an idea.

unless henery can cut us some slack.. RC does not like "sales" unless you are a paid ad purchaser, understandbly so.

i put in an order for my magnets last night.. I might have a few extras

http://www.unitednuclear.com/ is where i have found the best quality mags for the price.. really sweet group of people there...

That is one crazy website.... :p

I am sorry I have not been paying attention to this thread lately. I have chiropractic boards in September, so I am extremely busy for the next month.

You really need to get one contact individual lined up to get a quality count and to line up the details. I suggest either Einstein Nuccatree or Covey pick up the reins on this to make things easier.

You might also want to talk to Adam at Aquatic Environments about donating some parts for the meeting. He has been very open to supporting the club and I don't see him having a problem hooking you up with some ridged airline. Just a thought and I wish I could be there and help out.

As a side note... Since I am becoming increasingly busy in clinic with new patients and exams I am looking for someone from the QC area to become a board trustee for our area. If you are interested please pm me. I believe the QC could be a hub for the club if the right individual leads the way as there are plenty of great people in our area that are very interested and knowledgable in the hobby.

If anyone is ordering some magnets and would be willing to order me enough for 2 brackets I will pay you that day and we can split the shipping.

As far as leading the project that day I will be happy to lend what I have learned through making mine with the kit. It seems Covey has made some from scratch and can probably share some very good advice about how to make them also.
The caps that are sold on mjmods.com that fit on the sched80 couplers are very nice and look awesome, they must be computer milled. I would like to make the advanced stoppers Covey speaks of....

If someone is going to make the housings from Sch80 couplings they need an additional piece to make it fit on an MJ body...just an FYI.

I'm also interested in ordering some magnets if they can be ordered cheaper than buying a mag float.

How hard is it to make a custom bracket with magnets?

Couple notes:
Magnets are cheaper at www.leevalley.com Not sure it teh 9lb mag will work if there are four of them for the corners though. I think they would but any suggestions?

As with making the sch80 housings, I will be making up 10. I did see that I need the extra tube and will be cut correctly.
