I've been saving up store credit for this guy since he came in a few weeks ago. Finally brought him home on Friday! There are almost 40 polyps of Lunar Eclipse palys on it!

They seem to be doing very well for you and fully expanded. Can you share a little about your sytem with us.

Are you doing anythig special to keep all your colonies looking that healthy?

What is your lighting type, watts, bulb etc?

Can you share your parameters?

Are these they your first polyps?

Thanks for sharing

It's a 34g Solana, set up for 3? years, upgraded from a 24g nano cube.

I have 150w MH with Ushio 20K bulb (which is awful, I will never buy this brand again)

I don't test, I let my tank tell me when something is off, so who knows what my parameters are right now.

Nowhere near my first polyps, lol. I have mostly LPS, but really liked these guys, so they got brought home :)

You don't test? How do you maintain a reef aquarium?

Pretty simple. If something looks off I test, if everything looks good there isn't really a reason to test. I test everything maybe 5 times a year at most unless I'm having a problem. Works just fine for me and I've been doing it this way for years.

Again, if something is wrong, your tank will tell you. Maybe it's not how you would do things, but it's how I've been doing things for 9 years and I've never had a problem.

I'm new to reefing but kind of know what you're talking about. I have some macro's in my tank and they tell me when to change my carbon and GFO.

Anyways, I like the green and orange ones!

I don't test my pico, i just let it go, something is wrong, polyps close and so do feather dusters. Nothing has ever closed. and Nothing has ever taken more then 4 hours to open up.

Nice colony! I was excited when when i found a frag of 2 of Lunar Eclipse in my LFS! (now have 6 so they grow well) Very nice find.

Good looking colony

+2 on learning how to "read" your tank. Been at it for close to 10 years and I also rarely test. If algae is growing on the glass a bit to fast or if colors in certain sps change, then I test. Otherwise I am wasting reagent. Definently would not suggest it to others, especially newer reefers, but if you know your system, then you know your system.

Agree. On my tank I test alk about once a week or two, and mag/calc every few months... maybe.

Again, an acquired skill and not something I would recommend to joe reefer, especially anyone new.
