My pair of Choati's made it through QT!!!

Hey everyone,

I thought this was worth posting. I bought a pair of Choati wrasses from LA DD a little over two weeks ago and they've AMAZINGLY made it through QT! I did 5 rounds of tank transfer with 2 rounds of Prazi and they made it through like champs, never once losing their appetite.

I've must have tried at least 5 or 6 times before myself buying them locally at my lfs but never succeeded. But when I saw them listed on LA DD, I thought I'd give it a shot since I had nothing to lose with their 14 day guarantee. They were only marginally more expensive than the lfs ones but obviously well worth the extra $!

This is the second pair of delicate leopard wrasses I've bought from LA DD, the other being the Maritius Jeweled Leopard wrasse, that has done very well for me. I don't know how Kevin and the crew do it over there at LA, but great job!

These guys will stay in my observation system till around Christmas and into my main reef tank they will go! I can't wait!

Wow, nice job! Somehow this reminds me of when I was starting up my big FOWLR, /i want through nearly a dozen angels to finally get them to get along

Congrats Wayne, they look amazing! Words of wisdom... If you want delicate wrasse or fish for that matter Divers Den is the place to get them from

Congratulations. I loose two times 5! They all die after 3 week in just two days! Don't know why! I don't quarantine them. Get them from wholesale tank with sand bed und put them directly in my DT. few weeks later the disaster...

Beautiful fish Wayne. I was wondering how long you have the fish in a tank in-between transfers. And it sounds like you are doing tank transfer and Prati at the same time? Thanks and congrats on the new additions!

wayne, how about an update on these?

Good news and bad. The smaller of the two didn't make it after I put them in my reef tank. It got bullied by both of my Jeweled Leopard wrasses which have grown to be huge! The male is full on supermale showing full adult coloration. The smaller Chaoti was already pretty shy, but the added stress from the Jeweled was too much for it. It shyly swam around for about a week, then eventually disappeared.

However the large one is doing great. Thriving and eating like a pig! I'll shoot a video of it once I clean the glass this week. I have no doubt though that both would have made it if it were not for the added stress of the existing tank mates.

OK, as promised a few videos - the video was taken with my iPhone which doesn't handle the blues that well. I'll break out my Canon later and shoot video with it. That video looks much better. But anyway enjoy this for now. :)

Sorry, the water was a bit murky from the glass cleaning, water change and feeding. Here's another video where you can see the Choati eagerly feed. I get a bit distracted by my Attenuatus flasher wrasse flashing as it eats...such a beautiful display!

One more video with just my blue LED's on...pretty psychedelic!

My new dream fish is Attenuatus flasher wrasse now. I cant find too much info on them. Any advice on where I can obtain one? I am sure they are probably seasonal/rarely available. Your fish and tank is beautiful Wayne. Thanks

The wrasse collection is pretty nice. So are the GPs. I've only seen GPs in person at Waikiki aquarium and they are definitely show stoppers.

Yeah, it's such a beautiful fish. It flashes all the time too. I never see it available. In fact buying mine was the first time I saw it for sale. Sorry, I wish I had more info to give you.

Here's a couple of pics I was able to get awhile ago:
