My Peppermint has eggs

It appears I have a female Peppermint shrimp. I noticed on sunday, 3/12/06, tha tshe has a bunch of yellow under her swimmerettes. They appear to be eggs. How long will she hold the eggs before releasing, or they hatch. I dose my tank once a week with DTs so I doubt I will be able to keep any, although my pod population is growing quite well. It certainly is fun to watch.

What conditions do they release? Mornings, night that sort of thing. WOuld love to catch the hatch on video.

Thanks a bunch.

About 1 AM, 2 AM. Maybe even 9-10 PM. Wait until the eggs become clear and you can see little eyes in them, and that night or the night after, she will drop. Be sure not to bother her too much, because she needs to shed the same night. ysmata shrimp are hermaphrodites, so you've got a female now, you're going to have a male later. :D

cool Iwill keep and eye out fo the clear eyes and the drop. Wish it was during the day so I could get some decent video of it. I will do what I can though.

I notice my peppermint had eggs again. I thought there was a break in between clutches like 10-12 days. Also I noticed that she did not molt after the last batch. Is it possible the eggs are not getting fertilized, I do see them change from a yellow-orange to a grayish. So it seems they are getting there.
