I don't know what you're shooting with but:

First, the pics from today are better.
There's "snow" in the water column. Turn your pumps off and let things settle before shooting.
Work on your Depth of Field. It's too shallow in some, a bit long in others when it doesn't need to be.
Watch your exposure. In the yellow tang and the flame it's too high. This causes the colors to wash out.

I have a cannon T2i with a standard lense and a 300 zoom lens. I would love to get a macro lense to play with but dont have to money for one of them right now. thanks for the pointers.

Are you shooting in RAW?? Your camera should have come with software so you can make adjustments to White Balance, Exposure and tint. You don't need a macro to shoot your tank, just to take close-ups of your tank.

This was with a Nikon 24-70. A little cropping, some minor adjustments. and some stamping to remove snow.

Yes I'm shooting raw. I do have an editing program but its hard to remove the snow and scratches in the tank glass. Also I use two monitors on my computer and we edit pics on the one and print them out that look close to the same. The other monitor is a lot brighter.
