My phytoplankton cultures keep crashing please help!

mine grows in old 5 gallon waterugs that were sitting at home depot for a year never rinsed out lol

i use ro water
salt
and a few other things and it takes off fast

I used to have unexplained crashes when using Prime. I find that fresh RO/DI water is the way to go. If I don't have enough RO/DI made up I will use bottled water or microwaved tank water. Yeah I said I use tank water. Just microwave it until it boils and it becomes a good excuse for a water change. You can use the waste water from the RO system also, I suggest boiling it and I would only use this for rotifer feeding phyto not for my reef.
