My RBTA met my vortech =( Need Advice

I came in to work this morning to see my RBTA on top of my vortech. I had the sponge cover on the Vortech so he wasn't chopped up just sucked in to the sponge. I got him out of the sponge and put him on the opposite end of the tank but he is not looking too good.

My clown is still trying to host in him but he has lost quite a few of his tentacles and has reduced in size by about 50%. I really have no idea what to do, I want him to recover but don't want to risk my tank if he is too far gone. Here is a video I made this morning.

I've seen worse recover, and I bet yours does too.
Might want to cover it w/ a strawberry basket or similar to keep your clown away until it looks better.

Agree with Dave. Use on of those old style strawberry baskets. It should recover if the clown is kept away from it.

That's sad to see...sorry about your nem. I'm terrified of BTA's because of this exact reason. Same thing happened to my first one and I eventually had to get rid of it because it was rotting in my tank. I didnt have a sponge cover though. Best of luck.

Yea I'm with Dav, anemones are pretty easy to spot if their dying (mouth open.) You'll know if its kicking the bucket in advance.

the nice thing about BTA's is if they're going to die, it's usually pretty slow. He looks good. +1 to davocean's advice

Please let me know what happens. I just purchased one today for $90. I turned down my vortech MP40, acclimated, then put him in the tank on a rock. Kept my eye on him for a few minutes to see if he'd move. I sat down to do some more research on him and one minute later I look up to the tank and see bits of bright red flowing around in the water. the RBTA was stuck to the MP40. I quickly took him off and set him back on a rock with a big hole. He shrunk and some tentacles tore off. I dont have a foam cover so I rigged up some of the blue/white foam filter that I use for my sump and wrapped the MP40 with rubber bands around it until I find where I can buy the foam cover without having to pay $8 to ship a few small pieces of foam.
Its been about 3 hours and I tested the water and everything is perfect. I'm debating whether or not to do a water change. I did one 2 days ago.

Here are some questions I have,

Were you water perimeters affected?
Did you do a water change?
