My return to Dark Lord Coral

Tonight i went back to dlc to pick up my t5 bulb along with the corals i had on hold. I gave Joe(amaya) a call and we took along another Joe, all together the 3 J's. I saw some new corals from the last time i was there and i got to see the watermelon echino i had reserved without seeing it first(thats how much i trust dlc). It did not dissapoint me, its a very nice frag. I also ended up picking up a big zoa rock with i think 3 different types on it, I stopped my little spending spree there, but not by choice. I wanted a couple other zoas and a pink yuma they had but not luck, not for sale. The other 2 Joe's got some nice zoas i believe and maybe some one got a feather duster? It was a great visit and i had a good time chatting in the car, we even came up with the concept of coral hustling, anyone want to join our gang? we deal in colorful zoas, acans, blastos, etc.......:p

yah put em in looking good under the led.yah i think im gonna have to do it.....i can make the car payment next week lol

I dont know, i still cant see straight after turning on the t5s in front of my face :p, kind of feels like the sun. That watermelon echino looks very nice, cant wait to see it with the lights on.

I would screen your corals for a few weeks from those T5s, if you don't want most of your corals bleached. Still having problems introducing new corals to the top of my tank.

No duster for me, but did get some colorful zoas.:D Been giving that coral hustling a thought ehh maybe my school fund can be spiked a little ... SIKE!!!

PS. This is my 123 post:p

Jeni, i dont think i should have problems, all the corals i bought came from the tub that has the halides over it. Besides i just messed with my timer and reduced the photoperiod by half and put everything down at the bottom. Ill see how it goes, here are a few pics that i took. Not the best of pictures but i didnt want to keep the lights on too long:

I still need to get a pic of the watermelon echino. Ill try for better shots tomorrow.

PP, every tank is different. Given that DLC uses ultralith and halides they are very use to very intense lighting. T5's do effect corals differently than MH's, but if water quality is up to par everything should be fine. In general, you should never place a new coral in the upper part of the tank.

Jose that rainbow acan is really nice. I'm going to have to take a trip out there one of these days.

Eric, dlc has some of the nicest acans and micros out there over anyone. Check out their website, as far as sps they have a couple pieces but i would say go for the zoas and lps. By the way that rainbow acan did not come from dlc, it used to be this tiny almost invisible piece that someone gave me for free. Since then it has grown to where you can actually see the polyps(5 of them). Cool thing is that i have the 5 polyps growing on 3 different spots. The colors were not there under pc lighting and so far on one week of t5 the colors have popped out and that nice yellow showed up( i had never seen yellow on that frag).

very cool about the colors coming out. I'm having the same experience with my acan. Yellow green stripes are starting to pull out under my t5's.

i'll have to talk to elizabeth and see when they get in a nice shipment of SPS so i can check it out...i'm not much of an LPS person. I think their gorgeous, but they dont mix well with SPS. my acan stung the crap out of my chips a couple weeks ago...:mad2: not much harm was done, but enough to keep me away from LPS for now. when i upgrade i'm thinking about doing an LPS island. i'll have to hit you and adam up for frags.

it looks like a stubby a. loisetta based on the coralites....but hard to say. if it is it will branch out and become a nice stag. make sure it gets plenty of flow. not enough flow can cause transfer limitation and limit growth!

will do, thanks Eric. I only plan on keeping a couple pieces of sps since i mainly like lords, micros and zoas. I have yet to post pics of the watermelon echino i got because i cant get it to come out right. Im surprised about the acan, what type was it? My lord has tiny sweepers, but i heard others can get pretty long.
