my revamped tank

When the bottom blew out of my 150gal reef tank not only did I loose fish, corals etc., I also lost heart. I kept the sump with the live rock going and turned my 55 fuge into a tank to hold my yellow tang and what scraps of coral survived. With some grateful and overly generous donations from Josh ( scottfarcuz ), itzme, and others along with a couple of frag swaps and raffle wins I have finaly got a tank up and running. I bought a 120 with dual over flows and stand and built my own hood. Here are a couple of shots of the unfinished project.

I installed 2 175w mh and a 250w mh out of the old hood and am using all 14k bulbs. I set the 250 w fixture centered in the tank so the bulb is off set and closer to one of the 175w's. So I have a brighter spot on one side of the tank. There will be three 4 inch fans in the back of the hood when it is complete. The hood is complete closed except for the fan openings.

I covered the bottom of the tank with eggcrate them put in the southdown that I had saved, sifted, then baked from the old tank.

I then put in the ceramic supports that would keep the base rocks up off the sand to help with flow over around and under the rock hopefully eliminating any dead spots.

I then tried to make it look more natural and hide some of the supports with rubble and such.

thanks Josh your support and your frag care package is why the tank looks like it does today.

Glad to see things back on the right track, Kevin bailed me out too. He is a heck of a guy. Knows a bunch, but doesn't brag, seems to be there first to help and last to take credit.

Our hobby needs more Kevins.
good luck with the project

There are a lot of really good people in the area that are truly unique in their attitudes and generosity concerning this hobby and the continued success of their fellow hobbyists. I would like to say thank you to one and all.
