No temp changes at all with my tank.
It seems the flow of the 5000/7000 is a common question. I have the data sheet and head loss chart but it exceeds the forum upload size. If anyone is interested let me know and I can forward it directly. I just received my 5000 a few days ago and cannot wait to get it in water but am still waiting for my tank stand to arrive.

Yes, it sure did. It mainly is to keep larger items out. Was not a fine screen or anything like that.

the 5000 is definitely in a real of it's own when it comes to quiet. If you did not hear water rushing through the pipes you would not know it was on. The 7000 you would hear turn on barely, however the rush of water was so loud as it had so much flow, I could never hear it running over the water splashing through my sump & over the baffles like niagara falls. WAY to much flow for my system. With the doors of my sump shut, I could just hear the hum from my old pump. With both the 7000 & 5000 I heard no hum at all.

Just an update, the HY5000 is still running perfectly / no issues or increased noise.

hey Garage...thanks for the write up. I want to eiither get the 5000 or 7000 but can't decide which one. Maybe you can help me? I will be setting up a 180 with a 45gallon sump. This will be the main return which will be split with a 'T' using 3/4 plumbing. I was also thinking of running my calcium reactor and media reactors from this pump as well (basically tapping into the return line). The sump will be in the stand so it will only be like 4ft head. Thanks!

3/4 is a little small for the 7000. Can you go 1" on the return all the way? How many outlets in the tank? How large are the drains?

That would work. The 7000 is very powerful. My tech 90 "same overflow as tech 120" has a very large overflow box and the 7000 could over power it easily. If your overflow has enough holes for water to flow through in volume the 7000 may be your ticket for that large of a tank. You would probably not need much additional flow from vortechs, koralias or other pumps with the 7000 if you have enough outlet nozzles and so forth. The flow rating does not sound like anything crazy on the 7000, but WOW that baby moves some serious water!

I got HY5000 but did not see suspension bushings in the package.
I used 3/4" for plumbing and put pump in the sump. But there is vibration and noise. I tried to use silicon tube to reduce the vibration but it is still obviously.
Not sure what's worng with it.:worried:

I would have no idea, you would want to call the manufacturer. Does not sound good!
Hi.. this pump looks like the one to go with.. Im picking up my 120 (48x30x20) this week with a 35 gallon sump, Id also like to know which pump to get also. From the actual pump to the return portion of the tank, it is approx. 5.5 ft. As of right now, I dont plan on runnig a chiller but if I do id like to cut that in the same return line aswell.
Thanks to this thread, I was just about to getting a flow star pump but was debating if would be to strong for my setup, but on the otherhand I was just gonna controll it with a ball valve.
I tried to search these pumps too in the vendor section, but no one seems to haveit for sale, any leads to wher i can purchase?

duh, I edited, found my answer to my question... so which pump to get for my setup, hy5000?
