My review of the new WaterBlaster HY7000 pump

I ordered mine today from Premium aquatics to replace the broken Red dragon I came downstairs to this morning. This is the second time the ceramic shaft has broken like this. I got the HY5000 for my 270 gallon reef. Currently have an eheim 1262 running until I get the HY5000 next week.

What did Premium Aquatic say about your pump problem? You need to pay for the damage? I never repair my Red Dragon 8 2m3 as I have to forked out the money which I wouldn't as it is ridiculous for me to pay for a non performing pump.

Not to get to off topic: I have not inquired yet with premium about replacement parts. They have however always been my first choice for equipment because they have been honest and their customer care is awsome. ThAt is why I ordered my water blaster from them.

I am eager to see the pump and get it going on my reef.

Has anyone had an issue with the manifold breaking away from the pump body? Snapping the manifold around the screw heads.
Screws have started to rust also.

I read a post on the Bubble Blaster pump doing the same thing. The guy contacted CoralVue who said they had gotten a bad batch of screws and sent him some new ones. I think they are now using titanium.

I love these pumps for both water and skimming

Thats why I'm starting importing them in New Zealand.

they are great.................

Currently I am running a hy7000 externally and my pump is whisper quiet. I will be running it submerged in a couple of weeks. I can't imagine that this pump will be any louder at that point.

My issue with noise was that the impeller was not seated correctly. After addressing the issue, the pump is super quiet and I would highly recommend it.

HY-7000 works great for me. Minimal noise (my skimmer is nosier) and no heat exchange for me. No restart issues when I shut off the return pump during feeding time. Very happy with this piece of equipment!

Any updates on these pumps?

I'm looking to replace Mag 18 with a HY7000 or would a 5000 be enough?

I have the 5000 on my new 125 build and it makes a pretty good hum. Wish it was more quiet.

How long has it been running Mojo? And are the suction cups sitting right? Alissa make sure it is not against the sump. I had mine up against the sump and it was a bit buzzy. After getting it on the cups and off the wall, it quieted down nicely over the course of a week or 2. I don't hear mine at all

Zooty, my HY-7000 worked great on my 180g. I had dual overflows if it makes a difference.

Mojo, do you have PVC pipe directly connected to the pump? I attached vinyl tubing between the PVC and pump to minimize the vibration and noise. Also, the HY-7000 was initially noisy the first few days for me, but for some reason it quieted down significantly. The HY-7000 was inaudible compared to my SWC 180 skimmer.

Hey guys I can't find how big the footprint is on these. Trying to design my sump and I don't have them yet.Can anyone get a rough top down set of measurements for me? Thanks
