For the third time in 3 months I've watched my big sebae anemone spawn just shortly after the lights have gone out. The first two times I couldnt figure out what was doing it but this time I can see that it is the anemone. My tank water is cloudy white and every couple of minute the anemone convulses a little bit and releases some clusters of yellow/orange eggs that spread out into the water column... which is really screwing up my skimmer. Presently it is 2:30am and I think the spawning is done... in the past this has happened as early as 11:30pm.
I'm not sure what has been triggering these spawning events. My temperature is quite stable and I dont use any moon lighting.
I tried taking a picture but with the lights out... everything just looks blurry.
I've owned the sebae for 4 years, its in a 120gal tank although my system contains about 270gal.
4 days ago I tested the water, I doubt its changed much. However I did boost the Alk with some baking soda so that should be a little higher now and the Ca should be a little lower.
Salinity 1.025
Temp 78ºF
Ca 470
Alk 8
Mag 1320
Nitrate <2ppm
pH 7.9-8.2
For reference here is a non-spawning picture of the anemone
