My Shallow Cube

Update- found HBK hiding in a cave. I'm starting to feel bad for him. Might put him in the fuge tonight.

Something's up with my tank..I went away for the weekend and came home to a few colonies looking horrible. I did a 10g water change. Hopefully everything bounces back. I'm very confused. All my other colonies are polyped up and happy..

Sorry to hear about that. BTW, none of the pics are displaying for me. I'm not sure why.

I wonder what you've got going on? You use an ATO/dosing system, don't you?

I don't know a whole lot about SPS allelopathy, but you have a lot of young colonies very close together. I would think plenty of flow with the MP10's though. I know SPS don't send out streamers, but do they ever mucous all up in defense? EDIT- wonder if one of the new LPS is responsible. Both of the euphyllia sp's can be very nasty with their warfare.

Any chance of parasites?

For pictures, setup a photobucket or Flikr(Yahoo announced 1TB of free storage so that might be nice). Once you got them setup, just copy and paste the IMG code. The colonies I have close together are all ok, it's just these that are ****ed off. I think my tank depleted in calcium due to the new wall hammers. I have an ATO. My salinity decreased to 1.024 as opposed to 1.026 so I'm wondering if that's an issue. However it leaves me puzzled since the rest of my colonies are perfectly fine. No sight of parasites, I dipped the colonies that looked upset. I think you might be right about the LPS since they are closest to the colonies that are damaged. Thank you for the insight!

Wait we're you talking about my thread's pictures?

Yeah-

Your pics are showing up until this most recent batch. It just shows the image code for me.

BTW, how is everything doing?

maybe this will work. not much change. not too sure what happened with the acros. I decided on the 80 gal for the upgrade. I'm piecing together the equipment now..how's your build?

looks as though you are suffering from an RTN event, looks as though the maricultured pieces are those being impacted, always the first to show signs in my previous tanks, when things were off. For this reason, I do not add those corals until much later in the game, IMO once they encrust their plugs, you are clear, until then, it is always a wait and see game. Even the most mature tanks will be hard to house the mari-cultured/wild pieces... FWIW...Best of luck on the build!!!

Na that's not it. It was from the LPS being too close to the SPS. The other colony was not receiving enough light as that particular part of its body was blocked by a rock. All my pieces are encrusting!

Ok, that is good to know... I should have read more before posting, sorry about that :) I rushed to diagnosis only due to previous experience, the plugs look mari-cultured, which eluded me to believe the corals were being sensitive, which happens, even in perfect conditions. LPS stings can be brutal, hope they recover. Your tank is in very nice shape, great work, keep it up with the new one. Saw your tank upgrade on the sps forum, been frequenting that board for a long time, looking forward to the progress!

i turned off my vortechs..snapped some pictures of how crowded the tank is! i added a few frags... jedi mind trick monti, orange setosa, sunset monti, cali tort, ATL limade, green slimer, and appleberry monti. also added some zoo's. sorry, i suck at taking pictures :/

Hi, I have the same tank and stand. (Just picked it up Sat.) What are you using to support your LED fixture?
Thanks.....
