My small 10G SPS pico reef

Beautiful little tank. I have a 40B that is my first tank, and been quite the learning experience. What have you found have been the biggest issues/learning experiences as you go smaller (obviously non-fish will be different than w/fish)

Patience...this is the secret to success in reef keeping ...in a couple of months the plugs will be gone

Besides I can move corals with plugs...without them I can´t....I´m still looking for the best spot

Best Regards

Best spot? It's a 10gallon. They're all in the same spot.

No, you are wrong. If I change the spot of my Hycintus Red and put him in the sand or in the left/ right side , I will see a color change

Remember the formula : E = ( I / d ² ) * cos(@)

If you change d , even 1 inch, it´s a huge difference in lighting intensity

Best Regards

I enjoy following the tank, and I could give a hot about the plugs. Good grief, I thought this was an SPS forum, not an art room. :D

I want to know more about this formula please. What are E, d and @?

Thank you.

You think this could be done with a less expensive light? I have a 10 gallon tank I used for hospital tank (never medication, just needed to separate parties once). It is a classic tetra 10 gallon with the light bar and lid.

I have a clown that would be perfect in there as he is small and he and the tank mate suddenly got violent and he is losing.

A Kessil 160WE would probalby do the trick, unless anyone else has a suggestion?

I love the amount of growth you're getting in a 10g Denadai, really inspiring to see your progression in such a small environment.

I was thinking about doing something like this for my 8th grade class next year. I can and will use clippings from my home tank but are you dosing any supplements or are weekly water changes enough? Also, how are you taking care of ATO?

I would love to have a very simple setup in my class that can be easily moved back home over the summer. Thanks for your experiment.

Hi,

Just water changes is not enough to keep ca and alk if you have a lot of SPS in a small tank. I´m dosing alk , ca and ATO manually daily

Best Regards
