My snake coral is finnaly opening.

Yea, I need new suction cups. They hold it to the glass but they slide(the glass is clean)down every day. I have to wait until next week to get some up in buff, our lfs employees always look at me funny when I need something they don't have, like when I went in the other day to see if they could order me a 40w uv bulb. They said [insert any twang accent here]" we can get bulbs for a turbo twist... we never heard of a pentair uv." . This is what happens in the "deep south" of ny. lol

I have vortech pumps in mind soon. First thing is I am working on the aquascape this week, I just came across some nice rock today. Led fixtures should come in by next week. Its still a work in progress. Gary, any opinion good or bad is welcome, I don't get offended. That is part of learning.

you have a good attitude- it can get you far.

When somebody that knows a lot about something that I don't know much about I usually listen very closely. I've taken more jabs than anybody here and look where it's gotten me. (Yikes!)

JMO: don't use the MJ suction cups- they're a waste.
Use the clip-over-the-tank-top plastic hangars.
Vortech's are great but you can accomplish a lot with MJ's and that's what I'd recommend you'd do. (I still run MJ's.)

FWIW all of us are a work in progress ;)

The stack looks great, with a bit of growth it will fill in well. IMO sometimes people on this board need to learn how to log off of RC before making some of the down-right rude comments (don't try and act like they aren't) displayed on the thread.

This hobby is all about fusing art and science; the OP obviously has a good grasp of both.

damn the Yankees.

*At the extreme risk of offending someone*

is there a reason why the MaxiJet is positioned so low, Andrew?

IMO/IME it should be hung directly below waterline.

Gary, you can bash my Yankees any time...with a tank like yours? I'm humbled.

I like the open feeling of the stack, but if I may suggest something; add a component to it that goes front to back to give it some visual stability. Maybe something going forward on one side and something going backward on the left. I'm gong to try something open but 3D on my new tank.

It reminds me of those crazy rock formations in...I forget where...

if it pleases you then do it! I agree that for me some visual if not structural support would be nice. Good liverock is hard to find-I'm sure when you do you;re inner designer will shine. Just takin on rod install tells me you are seriuos and have done some homework.

+1 on the maxi holders-or some people ahve made diy plexi holders too.

MJ only Gary? Good to know!

I will be following this thread.

Any fish choices in future?/Coral?

And how hard is it to drill LR?

Thanks

I really am regretting getting the clown tang. He is docile for now but it was a gift. I am afraid he will get ornery eventually so I am actively looking to find a good home for him. So if anyone is interested he is healthy 3-4" and eating well , taking offers for trade[coral] ;). The only thing we want to do for now is possibly a blue tang if/when I can find a home for the clown tang. Coral addition will be after I re do the aqua scape this week. I want a mixed reef. I like sps but I like movement also, like euphilia torch etc..[frag swap approaching shortly! :fun4:]. I used a 14" masonry bit for the lr. The actual drilling depended on the rock. Some of the rock already had natural holes for the peg.[the pegging just allowed me to stretch the rock I had in my 30g] Some of it drilled like it was butter, then some took forever due to its density. It did drill better if I wet the hole periodicly.

OK.. funny looking rock stack is gone

Starting to clear up

Starting to clear up

No more pegs and none of it is touching the back glass. [I do have a piece on the left of the tank against the overflow.]

Thanks guys, I am trying. I am contemplating redoing the left side of the tank... I like it like it is for sure, just thinking of making a shelf out of the huge piece against the OF for coral placement..
