Tank is looking sweet. Like the GSP on the overflow box. :)

thankyou, wish i could take credit but i stole the idea off of member sweetride lol

very nice rimless tank....
May I know your glass thickness? Is it over 12mm, like 19 mm?

sure, the glass is 1/2" thick (12.7mm)

Tank and colors look great.

thanks! still working on the colors expecially on some more than others but they are getting there.

thankyou, to answer some questions,

-% are off the top of my head, but whites peak for about 4-5hrs at 15%, RB 70, DB65, uv/green/red/15%. i work the evening shift so lights start a slow ramp at noon, and turn off at about 2am. they are about 6-8" off the waterline. alot of people i find like to do a 10% increase to find that sweet spot but i do 5% ramps every month (if needed) to see how the corals and colors react. just before i made the switch i had found that sweet spot with the sol blues, colors and growth were terrific.

-tank params are all normal, 0 ammonia, 0nitrite and nitrate is at about 2.5 with all salifert kits, this was the last test i did and decided to stop vodka dosing; before my nitrates were at 5ppm and i found that the corals had the best color and growth at that. GFO and GAC (vertex..strong stuff) were both taken offline because it just stripped the water of nutrients. P04 im' not really sure of to tell you the truth, just a tiny bit of algae on the glass in the refugium, none anywhere else but my hanna just keeps reading 0.

Wow that's crazy. Most people seem to be running uv and violet way higher than that. maybe I will give it a whirl. Are your violets that low as well?

hey guys, sorry about the lack of updates, but the tank has been shut down pretty much.

i was getting tired of the height of the tank, i would be up to my armpit to move a frag that fell over on the sand bed. also, i had a nitrate and phosphate spike right when i changed the lights to the AI hydras. as i was trying to get things under control, i lost a few colonies.

i think the major downfall for the tank was the fact that i used egg create throughout the entire tank. that made cleaning it very hard, and acted like a trap for ditrius.

not all is wasted tho, i have an Uncle who is the reason i got into this hobby. i consider him an "old skool" reefer, because back in the day he had a huge 300gallon in his garage, and he cut out the living room wall for the display. he got divorced and while moving the tank cracked it. he still has much of his old stuff, one day hoping to get back into the hobby but never had the chance to start.

i gifted him the tank, stand, sump, return pump, sand, rocks and plumbing. he has alot of his old stuff like MH lighting and skimmer, so we'll see what he does with it. he is over the wall happy that he's getting back into the hobby.

Bump; this thread is due for updated photos and video. :D

thanks for following man, but i'll link my new tank!

Agreed...and I'd love to know the dosing (CA/ALK) routine/technique!

i actually didn't dose anything in this tank, i was planning too, but i never needed to. alk stayed steady at 7dkh and cal was at 550 with weekly 20gal waterchanges.

What sweet tank, I like that scape a lot:) more pics please:beer:

thanks very much!

Yes, agreed, update would be good, hope all is well Jason :)
