hey guys, sorry about the lack of updates, but the tank has been shut down pretty much.
i was getting tired of the height of the tank, i would be up to my armpit to move a frag that fell over on the sand bed. also, i had a nitrate and phosphate spike right when i changed the lights to the AI hydras. as i was trying to get things under control, i lost a few colonies.
i think the major downfall for the tank was the fact that i used egg create throughout the entire tank. that made cleaning it very hard, and acted like a trap for ditrius.
not all is wasted tho, i have an Uncle who is the reason i got into this hobby. i consider him an "old skool" reefer, because back in the day he had a huge 300gallon in his garage, and he cut out the living room wall for the display. he got divorced and while moving the tank cracked it. he still has much of his old stuff, one day hoping to get back into the hobby but never had the chance to start.
i gifted him the tank, stand, sump, return pump, sand, rocks and plumbing. he has alot of his old stuff like MH lighting and skimmer, so we'll see what he does with it. he is over the wall happy that he's getting back into the hobby.
Bump; this thread is due for updated photos and video.
thanks for following man, but i'll link my new tank!
Agreed...and I'd love to know the dosing (CA/ALK) routine/technique!
i actually didn't dose anything in this tank, i was planning too, but i never needed to. alk stayed steady at 7dkh and cal was at 550 with weekly 20gal waterchanges.
What sweet tank, I like that scape a lot

more pics please:beer:
thanks very much!
