My Squamosa clam lost its foot?

Hi,

My sequmosa clam lost its foot today, but it still looks ok. I heard that some clams will loss its foot once it get big enough. I never had this happen to my clams before. Usually how big do they get before lossing its foot? Right now, it's about 3.5"-4".

by losing its foot, do you mean the byssal threads- those stringy growths from the bottom? they lose them and grow them back as they move around....if it's the actual foot- that's another situation altogether....
