My Tang 'Journey'

I currently have a few tangs in my tank and imo flow, food and open space are the most important. You have to commit to tangs and qt all fish coming in. Don't bring in rocks with corals as that's a potential vector. I would say even plugs a corals can bring in ich. That's a risk I take unfortunately but fish definitely go through ttm to avoid potential ich.

I feed regular flake (formula 1 and 2 mixed), frozen Mysis, nls pellets and Asian store nori.

Interestingly enough, my kid likes that nori and I split the sheet into two, he gets half and tangs get half. He sits in front and watches them eat while chewing on his portion.

Fwiw I have an Achilles, powder blue, chevron, yellow, purple and a blonde naso in a 300. They have been together for 3-4 years now.

I used to have those without the purple but with a deshardini in a 180 and the desjardini outgrew everyone and started to become territorial so out he went.

This subject is of great interest to me. I currently have a very small Purple residing in my 75. I have a 180 in the process of setup, so there will be more than enough space for him by the time he needs it. But, I would love to have a Yellow tang as well. I have hesitated to try to find one (small like the Purple is) because my understanding was that these two fish would not get along. It appears from this thread that given room and ample food, they might coexist?

I have similarly sized yellow and purple in my 265. Coexist is a good word. They do spend a chunk of time sparring, and a bit of missing fin on occasion, but they largely coexist.

Congrats on the polyzona.

My Achilles loathes my tiny blueline angel, could care less about most of the other fish.

I've tried small ones on two separate occasions without success. Never had a tank big enough for a big one. Maybe the 'next' tank

The get pretty large if not down right huge. I've personally never owned one but seen them on many a dive. This is one that I would personally say needs room, and a lot of it. No tang police here but based on my interactions with them that is my opinion.
