My Water Look Green

55semireef? Judging by the cyano or diatom bloom on the sand in your avatar I don't think you should be the sole source of information on water quality in reef tanks. As a matter of fact I don't see any corals in the background. Actually.... I don't even see good coraline growth. Maybee you need to spend some time this weekend on your tank. Maybee do a water change? Tune your Seaclone up or something :D

By voicing your OPINION as fact you really come across as........... well a few things come to mind. Either way.....

thesaent14: Sorry you have to put up with this nonsense in your thread. My advice: If you know of other people using this same NSW with success keep using it. It's that simple. The green was probably just a small phytoplankton bloom (which isn't really bad for a new tank). Just make sure the guy isn't getting the water from a dock in the marina. :D

That's actually a picture of my aunts yellow tang before I got mine so don't judge or call me out like that again.

OH BTW buddy, its a small screen shot anyways so even if I did have lots of corals and coraline, you wouldn't be able to see it and actually I have very good coraline growth. And I switched from aggessive to reef so I am being patient about getting lots of corals at once. Oh and I don't have a seaclone, I have a DLX prizm and oh, one more thing, I just did a water change yesterday. ITs ok, your only a little rusty right?

I use natural sea water with great results but our Local Two oceans aquarium provides its members with filtered ocean water for our home aquariums. They actually have a large room with various filtration systems that filters the water which then runs to a tap where you able to draw the water from.

Timmyus, only one more post! lol

I would rather get NSW thats filtered instead of straight up sea water. I would be worried about whats in it.

thanks to all and keep posting

Its starting to look better. Looks like you got good flow. But one thing is concerning me. You have two starfish. They will starve and most likely die in the cycle

Even though its spanish I still understand you even though it can be tricky. ITs no big deal though, you will ge the hang of it if you type a lot on this forum.

ek9vboi, I was just wondering if you were being sarcastic or serious? If you were being serious I take it as a compliment. I am pretty confident in what I was saying regardless of others peoples misconceptions and their ignorance.

hey thanks is working really good the water is geting in good cuality

i have a Q??? siens you have Experience in the Hobby for 4 years

what you tink i should do with the xtra bag of sand i have put it in the tank or the fuge i have a deep sand bed like 5
" in the tank and none in the fuge

I would try and make a DSB in the fuge also. If I wanted I could go into detail on the benefits and factors of a DSB in a fuge and I can tomorrow if you want me to but I am getting really tired. lol.

You will most likey get extra sand even after a DSB in the fuge so you could put more in the tank. Theres nothing wrong with that. It will only help lower your nitrates. BTW, nice rockwork and cool Three Stripe Damsel.

hey i just did the sand in to the fuge this are pics of my refeugium and my mini refeugium lol look

i hoep is a good aidea i have to put more sand in the fuge tomorow or so the 25 bag was only to cover the bottom

I was serious about my comments. Me and my girlfriend were sitting here laughing about the comments people were making. She brought up the comment that sea water has alge in it and etc., which in fact makes the water green. Then you are really correct about using sea water... it can bring unwanted things. Good job and keep it up, if I have questions I know who to go to. I'm a super no0b at salt water, but im taking it slow or trying to.:)

Thanks for looking at my profile. How about you go invent some crazy graphic designs. That sounds fun.

Okay, maybe the bickering about ocean water vs artificial saltwater can be taken to a new thread. Either approach can work, or fail, depending on the actual quality of the water available.

Personally, I would skip the DSB in the refugium, since I'm not convinced that the small footprint is going to support much in the way of animals. My refugium has no substrate at all.

Correct! 55semireef knows his ****z.

P.S. Thread starter... learn to type proper or something close to it so we can read and understand it. Oh yeah, do some research. Here is a start:

I have been reading this post and I think this was the most hateful thing I have read so far in this thread.

Talk about a closed mind and not able to think beyond the end of your own nose.

Seems to me you owe thesaent14 an apology. The gentlemen is working hard to understand and make his situation better. That comment didn't help and quite frankly wasn't called for.

Of course this is my opinion to which I am entitled to. But I bet most on this thread would agree with this thought.

Regards,

Pat

Woohoo! Good stuff :)
Watch out for that little damsel - I have the same kind, he's very agressive. If you're going to keep him, I recommend you don't house him with shy/passive fish. My hawkfish, angels and dottyback keep my fourstripe in line, but he's constantly testing them. Small fish, BIG attitude :D

Chromies are a good idea... kind of ugly, but hey they are passive. I had Damsels and they were mean to each other... not as mean as my clowns I have now, but thats most likely because I am trying to pair them. As the days go by they are getting closer from what it seems.

If you plan on getting Damsels... plan on having a hard time catching them if you want to remove them from you tank. I made a little nice, cheap trap and tricked them with food. Any how... good job on the tank. DO RESEARCH AND TAKE YOUR SWEET TIME!

55semireef,

I suggest you realign your tone when speaking to other members on here.
