My wood tank build

WOOHOO....Company side is almost done. Need some crown molding on top and that'll do it. The Panels are cherry and black leather to match the bar just out of camera right. Speaking of bars, it's been months of turbid water and all of a sudden, clear as gin. I suppose the bacterial load finally coated all the sand particles, regardless of size.

Looks incredible, Del.
I can't wait to see it in person.
When are we having a RMRC meeting at your place?

So thinking out loud here as I will be going down this path... on how to get the glass to have an even seal around the entire frame without using bumpers, or nylon screws, etc...

Sine the tank is being laid glass down..why not build a type of jig that supports the glass from underneath?

So you would lay the tank with the opening down, on top of a type of platform that would be built to allow the glass to rest on it from underneath in the opening after you have lowered it onto the silicone?

Thoughts?

Dsandfort, first off thanks for all the inspiration. My tank models yours very closely. It if half full of RO as we speak. I used small rubber bumpers, (little stick on circles)designed for the bottom of furniture, to space my glass from the frame. This worked well giving me about 1/8 - 3/16 inch thick seal uniformly. The rubber was flexible so I didnt worry about pressure points so much. I even put 160 pounds of weights on top around the perimeter as it set. When the silicon sets, the bumbers are encased and pressure points are eliminated by the uniform seal.

And all this time I thought you were working on a "big" tank.......Just kidding, this absolutely wonderful. I am now motivated to finally start mine, all be it, it is only going to be between 200 and 220 gallons. Fantastic job, very beautiful.

wow that is a beautiful tank....a lot of work in that but i can just imagine sitting there saying wow i built the whole thing instead of wow i put everything in there

How is the tank holding up?

Not to sidetrack the thread, but for all those wooden tank builders are there, has anyone built a tank like this also with a glass panel on one of the ends?

Any links??

i have seen some with glass on both ends but the glass isnt joined as such theres still vertical bits of wood for support
