James, sweet progress. Your little clown looks so happy in it's Rose. Your pictures are so good. I am struggling getting good shots under the 14K. I get frustrated and quit trying after a while and then bam I get a decent one but can't replicate it. I need to take a class, total operator error in my case, lol.

Thanks Alicia, how are your angels doing?

Harry, he has been a model citizen in my tank. So far it's been almost a year and left my lps/softies alone. (open brain, xenia, blastos, zoas, cynarina, scolys, etc...)

Naka's Tank

Your 180 tank thread is absolutely stunning! I'm a newbie -55gal tank since Oct. and making plans for a 180. I'm so inspired by your pictures and information. THANK YOU! for sharing your very special reef tank - your pictures are WOW!

This is probably a dumb question but do you have a diagram of how your system is setup and how a closed loop is built - where sumpt, skimmer, reactors, chiller, etc. are plumbed in? I only have my LFS to advise me, and I don't think they really know how to set up a great system.

I presently have a plenum with 2 1200 maxijets and an overflow that goes into a fuge with miracle mud/and 6 mangrove plants. My return pump is a CA2200 120v60mh CE. The skimmer's in the return water section.
My tentative plan is to run all the plumbing under the crawl space to the heated garage 12 feet away so all the equipment, pumps, sump (with top off controller), fuge, noise, mess, etc out there where there's plenty of room. I also want to go without substrate.
I would appreciate any and all advice, since I am ready to start getting the new tank and equipment
Thanks,
Geo2:)

Easy now Marshal. I don't want to let everyone know my secret. he he

It could be Pappone or my tank just maturing, but the colors have definitely improved since last month.

Bart, I went bb for more flow and exporting nutrients out of my tank. I'm not using anything to control my co2. I have it dialed in by measuring my effluent using flow meter and bubble counter. Also, 2 boxes of salifert ALK test kits.

But don't you want others to benefit from your superior expertise? Think of all the beautiful tanks that could clone from yours!!

Have you been RC's tank of the month yet? If not, someone should nominate you.

Still would love some advice.

GIA

James, My angel pair are so awesome. They are getting bigger. I do notice a little pecking here and there on some of their preferred sps. There are about 5 corals in the tank that they seem to nip the most. The rest they leave alone. Nothing seems affected in the least, clams, lps, or sps. I love 'em. Man, your joc is gorgeous. If I ever get anotehr tank and have a chance to get a smaller joculator I am definately jumping all over it.

Naka your tank is awsome,it must be a great site to come home to every night! Im pretty new to the reefing scene and was just wondering about the CJ standpipe you use, other than size are there any benifits to this over the standard durso? The site you mentioned for this standpipe says it comes in 1.25" and 1.5" sizes which do you have and what does it drain in terms of gph.I thought earlier in this tread you said you use a ehiem as a return through you sump, is this correct?Im planning a blue series rimless tank and may also use this overflow and pump selection thanks.
:)

Thanks everyone for kind words.

GIA, I don't have any diagram of my plumbing, but it's really simple. I have 1 inlet and 4 outlets for my CL using OM 4 way. My return is Eheim 1260 (600 gph). Then I have a blueline pump plumbed CL to my sump for skimmer, chiller, phosphate rx, and CA rx feed.

Kaidenjohn, no negative effect using Pappone. I've had positive results only, but I'm dosing really small amounts. (about thumbnail size every night)

bcordill, I'm using Canon 100 macro lens.

Alicia, I'm glad the angels are working out for you. Joculator is by far my favorite angel.

Thanks for the compliments doc! I'm just now getting into nice LPS.

jwccwj, my tank lights are off when I come home :( I would love to enjoy seeing it, but my lights are only on for 6.5 hours a day. I see it from morning to afternoon. My work is only 5 min away from my house, and I own my own business.

CJ standpipe is better b/c of the size. It's much smaller than durso, and also you can adjust the length. Also, you can order them to your custom size. I have the 1.5" and it's plenty for my small return pump. 600 gph.

Naka are you shutting down the skimmer everynight when you feen the pappone. How thick is the piece that is thumb nail size. I am st5arting to gear up for the BB switch. i cant wait.
