naming fish

I had a few friends over last night, and of course we were looking at the tank. One of my friends points to my leopard wrasse and asks "what kind of fish is that." I say "oh, well, thats Sarah, and she's a leopard wrasse." My friend then turns around, and says "you name your fish!" I said " Sure i do. Thats Tina, thats Guiermo, and those are the Three Amigos." He then proceeds to laugh. I just want to make sure that i am not the only nerd/dork/geek, or any other word you can think of, that names his fish. I can only imagine that there is absolutely no way that i am alone in this. As this hobby if full of nerds/dorks/geeks, or any other words you can think of. If you do name your fish, what are their name?

I haven't named all my fish but my Purple Tangs name is Steve, my naked clownfishs name is Streaker, and my canary wrasses name is Banana Hamock! You are not alone!

My two clowns were Betty and Ford. They drink like fish, after all!
My blue hippo tang is Wedge and the entire extended family asks how Wedge is doing when we talk, so the name has stuck. The yellow tang is Besitos (little kisses), due to the smooching sounds we heard driving home with him in a bag.

I have a YWG named Gobi (not my doing- my dad named him!), the larger of my two clowns is named Neeno, my YT damsel is Buzz, my sixline wrasse is Humbug (Humby), my longnose hawk is named Lattice (lattie), I had a swallowtail angel named Gwen for awhile, and a lawnmower blenny named Fuggly. oh- and my skunk cleaner's name is Mr. Whiskers- original, isnt it

No you are not alone, it just that non-reefers cannot understand what your fish mean to you. Not all my fish have names but I have Reggie the Regal Tang- Mandy, the mandarin - Bling, Cardinal and various others.

1 bangi cardinal soon to be added and named marty as in the zibra from the movie too

1 lawnmower blenny named mr. poopers for of course the reason that he poops so much

1 royal gramma named beauty (wifes fish)

yellow watchman goby and tiger pistol soon to come and named felix & oscar as in the odd couple

urchin named spike

3 turbos named the 3 amigos

2 blue leg hermits named hermie 1 and hermie 2

a few other things though not named

Oh do i name my fish, Lets see...
Right now all i have is my fat blue tang named Sasha (My cousins moms name) (Shes a fat pig)
Then there was my pair of clownfish, Brennan and Billy (named after my uncle and cousin)
Then there was my skinny bio-color blenny, Mike (named after my cousin Brennan's ex Step dad, who was a druggy and very skinny)
I had a porcupine puffer that died the day after i got him i decided not to name him so i could save the name for the next one i get (It's going to be named ChumLee! The guy from Pawnstars)
I always name my cleaner shrimps, Mr. Shrimp the 1st, 2nd, etc...
My emerald crab, Mr. Crab
My turbos were demolition, bo doze, bozo!
Also in my old tank i had a 3 stripe damsel called shamu!
And i think thats it... Can't think of any other ones...
Oh and the reason i named half my fish after my uncle his son/my cousin and his mom along with his ex stepdad was because my uncle and cousin decided to name there reef fish after my family. LOL It's always a sad day when one of us die....

I never named my fish before, but my boyfriend's mom gave him money this weekend & told him to buy a fish & name it her name. I asked her if a crab would be ok LMAO. Well, I got the frowny face on that, so I told him on the way home we'd get a jawfish & shrimp combo & name the jawfish after her, and the poor working shrimp after her hubby...and she'd never know the difference! hahahahaha!

Just gotta call myself out on this one. I just got corrected for the spelling of Guillermo. WOWE! Gotta apologize to all those spanish speakers out there cause I totally botched that one, or butchered it, which ever you prefer. I cant help but just laugh at myself for that.:lolspin:
