Nano DOC Overflowing

Hello, I set up my Nano DOC after being in storage for about a month and after taking it apart and making sure everything is put together. The water level of the sump is slightly below the marking on the skimmer, but the water level in the skimmer keeps flooding the collection cup, despite my efforts to tweak the air control screw.

Any suggestions?

Hi Foogoo,

Try raising the skimmer about eight maybe even quarter of an inch. Additives will also cause wet foam production.

Graeme

Thanks Graeme. However, I'm looking at the skimmer and water is pouring into the cup. It's not even wet foam anymore. I thought I may have put the pump back incorrectly, but there isn't any other way to put the pump in.

run the air screw all the way back in and then open it 3 full turns and then adjust it no more than a 1/4 turn daily

Unfortunately no. Water (definitely not just wet foam) kept pouring into the cup. The water level was actually about 1" below the suggested level marking. I also disassembled the skimmer and pump a number of times to ensure everything was installed correctly.

Today my buddy returned the Nano DOC that's actually mine. I took it apart, cleaned it, and set it running. This one is running as it should. I wonder what could be wrong with the skimmer that overflows?

It could be that the air flow is too high, maybe the screw is a loose fit with a lot of bypass so you cannot properly adjust it. Could you send it to me?

Hi rvitko,

The skimmer in question is actually the property of my friend who is out of communication, but I'll ask if he'd like to send it to you when I can.

Thanks!
