Nano Stream for Me

I am looking for some advice from the Tunze folks here about flow in my new tank. It is a 47g tank (20x18 footprint, 30 inches tall) and will be housing almost exclusively SPS corals. Currently, I have a SEIO m620 in there (sorry, wasn't patient enough to wait for the Nano-Streams) and it will also have a Quiet One 3000 service as a return pump. So that makes the math:

1. SEIO m629: 620 GPH
2. Return Pump: 400 GPH (approx)

That brings the total to 1020, or 21.7x turnover.

Now, I have been thinking about getting a Tunze Nano-Stream to supplement the flow, getting it closer to what it should be. Ideally, I would like to aim for a max between 30x turnover.

So if I add a NS 6025, that's an additional 660 GPH, bringing my total to 1680, or 35.7x turnover.

However, a part of me says: Why order a 6025, when I can get a 6045, which will produce 2x the flow, for only $30 or so more. So perhaps I should take out the SEIO and end up with approximately 1590 GPH or 33.8x turnover, which is pretty good too (IMHO).

Alas, I am at a bit of a loss to know what the best plan is. So, I turned to the forum here in hope that someone might have a useful opinion. :)

Get 2 6025 and just use those, the tank footprint is small. Keep in mind the 6025 uses only 5W! The power consumption is so low it almost negligible and this is reason enough to switch away from the other pump.

Thank you for the input - unfortunately that translates for me into keep the SEIO m620 and add a 6025. The m620 uses 8w, which isn't too far off. Power consumption cost is negligible. And besides, I live in apartment with the electic bill wrapped statically into the cost of rent.

Thank you much for the tips! I look forward to giving one a nano-stream a try....

keep in mind, that if the seios break, they have the potential of leaking some nasty stuff into the tank and doing major damage.

do a search, youll be thankful
