Nano Streams, When Can We Get Them?

My 6025 seemed loud at first but I am pretty sure that in 2 days it has become near silent. There is a possibility that I got used to the noise but I am pretty sure that the humm leveled off...

Both of mine had the slightest hum as well. I'm pretty sure it went away. I assume it's just a brief time for the equipment to get worn in. Not out of the norm for moving mechanical parts.

Now available at Marine Depot. We're playing with one now and love the flow coming out of it. And man... those Magnets are strong....

Got mine yesterday from aquarium specialty! perfect flow for a 20H!!!!!! Polyps wave wildly but fish are not plastered against the glass. thinking about getting a second for the opposite side of the tank now!

My only complaint is they cant go on a wave timer! you manufacture's should think of the little sps tank gals too when making these and have a wave option for them too, not just the big tanks.

It is not technically possible to make a prop pump run reliably on a wave timer. Unlike impeller pumps which spin clockwise and counterclockwise without issue, a prop only works spinning one way. They all have to have some system to reverse a backwards start. This system wears if it is mechanical if the pumps start and stop. In the case of the nano streams it is a hydrodynamic system but it has a time delay and needs time to right its rotation. We calculate a 5 year life with 15 minute on and off cycles on a timer. It still wears the pump but this is the minimum we recommend for a reasonable pump life. The electonic pumps use sophisticatted electronics to ensure they spin the right way and being adjustable the 6055 would still be suitable for a small tank.

hm... just how far down can the 6055 be adjusted??? compaired to the 6025.

There is a size difference in the pumps though right?

so is it not possible to make a smaller electronic pump? I was unaware of the differences between the 2... sorry... I'm just to curous for my own good.

The pumps are the same size, the 6055 is variable from 400-1450gph.

It is possible but the cost would be the same, the 6055 is a bit over $200, it is the electronics and low voltage transfomer that adds the expense and those costs will not change with a smaller pump. Figure that just the power supply is about $60, it is a standard laptop power supply, then you have a pump and magnet like the 6025 but with a different coil and the electronics inside and you can see there is isn't much room for a lower priced smaller pump that is why we just have the one model coming out.

You guys were right about about the the humming sound going away. It been two days since the 6025 been running, and at first it was loud, but now I can't even hear it.

The 6055 has no certain date, I am optimistic they will arrive in the last shipment we get this year but it all depends on the power supplys arriving on time.

is the 6045 still on schedual for the end of the month? is your second shipment going to be bigger than the first? i didn;t preorder so i probably won;t be able to get in on the first batch, so is there a eta on teh second batch?

You can still get in on the 1st batch of 6045's. I think the ETA is still the last week of November if all goes as expected. Hopefully Roger won't mind me somewhat answering this since it's his forum... :)

I hate to say it but I sort of lost interest in them when you posted that any cycle interval of less than 15 minutes would "quickly ruin" the nano streams (except for the upcoming high dollar 6055, when used with the 7095 controller).

:(

Sorry, it is a technological limitation of propeller driven pumps. Impeller pumps can spin in any direction and they do, so start up is no issue. Prop pumps can only work one direction and a mechanism to correct start up is required, these wear out if overused. The only way around this is expensive electronic start up systems, like the 6055 will have. Their just is no way around this.

I understand. So what was the pricing on the 6055s again ? Over $150 each, weren't they ? This is for our prop tank, we already have 6100s in our main tank and I don't feel like spending a bundle just to get decent flow patterns in the prop tank :(
