Nanostream 6025 impeller problem

Roger, I have a similar problem with one bougt back in November. Installed and was flawless for 2 months, then I took a weeks vacation and came back to it chattering. Took it out, tried to clean it, not realising the shaft should not come out - it came out with the impeller so I assumed it was supposed to. Now I read it shouldn't sand is part of the motor

Do I just send it back?

Thanks

PS I used the form for serice on the website two weeks ago and never heard anything, so resubmitted earlier today, then stumbled on the forum.

Yea I am actually in the same boat. Purchased two around April 2007. The C brackets on both broke after around 5-6months of usage and they both chatter. I didn't think anything of it, I mean I only paid $60 a piece for them.

However after reading on the forum it appears that the shaft should not come out, does yours look just like this?

Also I noticed the casing around both of my 6025s just don't stick anymore and I had to ziptie them. Is any of this warranted?

Thanx,
Chuck

No, but I have low bioload FO tank with low calcium - all of that stuff in the photo looks like new. But I did notie the removable part of the casing didn'e seem to be as snug as before, and I haven't touched it since I installed it.

The problems you both mention are all under warranty. Various shaft problems were resolved in the manufacture process. And the clamps have been redesigned. PM or email Roger (rvitko) with what broke etc... along with your contact info (name, address, email) and he will get you fixed up.

VultureCP, send me your 2 pumps and we will replace them, send them complete to-

Tunze USA

Boca Rat- Any email you submitted from info.english@tunze.com comes to me and I don't recall seeing such an email, if it was submitted under a different country heading it would go to that respective country and probably take a while before it is read and forwarded back to me. Send me the pump and we will replace it.

That may be a dead link, it looks correct but for the future I would go straight to the Tunze site.

No, link is fine, and I navigated to the USA service form from the Tunze homepage and got the same link so this is one for your IT guys I reckon.

Thanks for the help, will mail the pump in shortly.

Hi Roger, I got my 6025 back in short order and installed fine -thank you.

Then went to clean it today and found the bracket had cracked clean thru which is really disappointing as the whole unit has been touched maybe 6 times since I installed it.

Do I have to send that back as well, or can I jst be shipped a new one.

Hey Roger, we had talked when the Nano's first came out, I bought six of the 6025 and love them...

But I noticed that three of the C-brackets have cracked and also now three other ones have started making a very noticeable vibrating sound...
It is def. getting louder and louder... Any fixes I should know about?

Mr Kalel,

We have redesigned the clamps and changed several other parts, can you PM me with when and where you bought the pumps so we can determine what is wrong and what is the best course of action?

Roger,

Can the shaft just be epoxied back into the pump? I have two 6025's and as I've noted before the Canadian distributor is a joke to deal with and I know it will take WEEKS if not MONTHS to receive a replacement from him. I'd rather just glue the shaft back in if possible and keep my broken C clamps glued together. I'm sick and tired of Tunze's pathetic customer service in Canada and feeling stranded when I run into the ridiculous number of problems I've had with these pumps in less than 6 months!

There is a fix but it is less than ideal and not easy. Basically you will want to drill into the existing hole that the shaft sits in, drill a 1mm hole roughly 1mm deep, careful not to go through the pump, if you have a hydraulic press to push the shaft in that is ideal but a tacking hammer will also work. I really would try to get these things replaced. I don't understand why it would take so long.

Canadian, I had to ship my pump in the US to get Warranty as I lost my invoice and no place in canada would take them back in fear I would have bought them from the US

Tunze should open an office in Canada and stop dealing with Xenia.

Roger,

What's the usual protocol for dealing with a broken shaft on Tunze's end (your end)? Do you attempt to drill into the housing as you described above or do you replace the whole pump? The retailer from whom I purchased my pumps is willing to swap the pump with me (provide me with a new one) but is concerned that if Tunze decides to repair the pump he'll receive an old repaired pump and will be out a new pump.

Additionally, the C bracket on this pump has broken tabs I've had to glue to the magnet so the entire thing is pretty much a lemon.
