Hi Im looking for some advice..

I've got a new 2ft nano (24 x 10 x 12 high) with a curved front, holds around 51 Litres. sand bed is an inch or so of sugar sized substrate.

I had been looking for a 6025 but there are some supply delays here in Aus and it sounds like the only ones available for the next few months are the 6045.

would it be crazy to put the 6045 into this tank? would there be any way to make it work (ie pointing it into the glass)? stocking plans are zoas, some LPS and SPS.

not sure what to do as I have already been waiting months for the 6025, they were due weeks ago but have now been told they could still be months away, and there are a limited number of 6045 available now (6055 isnt an option either - same waiting time as 6025).

any help much appreciated, particuarly if anyone has used a 6045 on a similar sized tank?

I've just found a mod suggested on NR.com - apparently you can silicone over every second intake grate to reduce the flow.. so i guess this could help a bit? but I have a feeling it would still be too much..

If it was me, I would buy a couple cheap pumps to get you through until the pump you want becomes available. It is always a good idea to have a spare pump around, you will likely need it again some day.

Thanks Roger - I've already got another pump running the tank at the moment, so i could keep doing that until the 6025 comes in.

I guess my real question is do you think the 6045 would be too much?

It depends on what you plan to keep, for SPS in a bare bottom or coarse substrate aquarium, it would be fine but for a mixed reef it is likely too much.
