Are the others possibly the older sealed rare earth magnet design?
On the ferrite magnet design their are two possible causes. The older sealed rare earth magnets have a slick surface so magnetic debris does not tend to stick to them.
Ferrite is a ceramic and cannot rust, if you have flaky rust on the edges of the magnets the cause is iron particles the magnet picked up and they just need to be cleaned. This can be iron filings from the factory, GFO particles (pelletized rust) etc. If the stain is a bullseye emanating from the edges the cause is water breached to the iron plate underneath. In this case we would replace it, this type of rust lacks any flaky debris and will look like a bullseye coming from a pin hole in the resin between the magnets.
