NARC May meeting

Monica,

Thank you for your kind thought, but I have other types of xenia. I have tons of xenia elongata that is pretty peach color, blue xenia, and a bluish white one, too. They still grow although slowly. I just want the pink pompom to grow, but it just sits there lately. I used to have so much of them that I took a few extra ones to John just about weekly. I may need to weed the other kind to give the pink pompom a fair chance.

Monica, I'll take some kenya.

Also, does anyone have anything else in their fuge besides chaeto? I am going to try something else because I can't get it to grow.

Curtis,

You got it. We have the same problem with Chaeto. We have started using iron for our chaeto. Hopefully, it will help.

Monica

I suppose iron may be helpful if that's what they are missing.

Other macro are not as easy to grow in fuge except for caulerpa. I have tried a number of different macro such as Ulva, halimeda, halimania, gracilaria, dictyota, etc. Some need more intense light or higher flow than others and it's not easy to meet the need of various algae in such small space as refugium.

Curiously, my chaeto is growing really well right now while caulerpa racemosa failed completely (did not go sexual - they just started breaking apart into tiny green pieces and millions of balls.) It used to be the other way around. I don't know what happened to cause this since I have not changed anything.

Okay, we need a headcount.

John is providing Seafood stew (a deluxe version of shrimp boil) for lunch. His customer Debora is cooking the stew. John needs to know how much ingredient he needs to purchase. This is going to be very yummy for sure! We need soft drinks and dessert :) Any volunteer?

So far I have H@rry and Mary Ruth, Mariner, Yellow Fin 19 (Jason), Don and Monica, Nicole, Curtis, GCamp13, Chemjoey, Greenbean possibly, Reilly and me. Anyone else?

He is also trying to get some door prizes together.
This meeting is going to be another great one!

Tomoko

We traditionally have just soft drinks. There's no restriction on desserts :D An appetizer of some sort is welcome, too.

where is the meeting? and does anybody have any beginner like coral for sale, or anemones? i have 2 clowns and would like to get them an anemone

The meeting is at Coral Reef Aquatics (CRA) east of Athens, Alabama. You can find a map on their website -- http://coralreefaquatics.com

CRA has anemones priced fairly reasonbly (~$30 or so for a BTA I think). Several of the "old timers" in the club will probably bring a few beginner coral frags -- at least I hope they will, because you're about the 6th person to ask about it and I don't have enough for everyone!!!
:eek2:  :D

I'm going to bring a couple of lobophyllias for sale. I continue to have unresolved clarity issues and these poor guys are losing color although they are still very healthy; I'll miss them but I would like to see them in a happier home.

The larger one (~6"x4") is mostly brown now but used to have some nice light teal color and might color up again. $25. The smaller one (~3"x4") is still nicely colored lavender with a green stripe. $40.

I am bringing Kenya tree. (Free)
So far I have Curtis, Jason and GCamp.

Chemjoey,
Do you want some Kenya Tree?
