naso tang gill issue

You might not put any delos in your tank, but would you put this naso? :)

After all this fish has been through, I'm inclined to agree with Sarah; he would probably do best in the DT at this point. Frankly, the latest pictures look like he has the beginning stages of HLLE, and perhaps the lumps are related.

the small holes in his head are not hlle, look at the link i posted on the first post, he had some sort of bacterial infection but it is healing. the healing did slow down in the past few weeks.

its the white pimples on his gills i am worried about, also alone in a 40g has to be stressful on him?

The HLLE reference was based on the apparent deterioration around the orbital socket and just posterior to that. I realize the white pimples are the area of concern.

But yes, I agree that the limited swimming space in a 40gal is likely to be stressful for him.

oh, i see what you are talking about, i was sure it was due to the infection but going back and looking at the pictures it could very well be hlle.

i will wait another few day, 50% daily wc i will feed 6-8 times a day and see if it is getting worst or not, i will revisit the idea this weekend

Thank you for you input Chris!

thank you for all the feedback! i was really expecting everyone to tell me NEVER put this fish in your DT.

by this weekend he will go in, if things do not get worst.

After having seen the fish personally, I recommended waiting 3 more days to ensure that the damage is healing, but then to throw him in.

Yes, post a pic if you can. And why feed 6-8x/day? don't you have enough mouths to feed :p

:) i feel like a feeding machine!!! thank god for my awesome wife! she even feeds my fish once in a while!

here are some updated pics, looking much better than last week, i am tempted to just dump him in the my DT

also .chris. passed by last night and did not help the (just put him in your tank already cause) :bum:

so should i still wait longer? should i take the plunge? should he take the plunge haha (im so funny, crack myself up)

We had a long talk about this fish last night. His argument was that it's been through so much, he's worried to put it in his tank "just in case." Which is totally valid and I understand the worry. Being cautious is never a bad thing.

But I made the argument that there comes a point where you have to take a leap, otherwise you're NEVER going to put fish in your tank, for fear of something going wrong. Avandss needs this fish as a "win" for him, for the sake of his sanity, haha.

I was once told by Bob Fenner, "microbial issues starting w/other causes... mostly environmental, social, nutritional... and cured by fixing the same. Moving, isolating specimens... is much more likely to kill them."

As long as the fish is healing, isn't contagious & there is no non-quarantined species in your display, I feel there is no reason to keep it in QT. Good luck :celeb1:

ok guys, quick update

i would like to thank everyone that helped save this poor naso! he seems to be doing great, eating, very active and the lesions seem to be healing! i hope it continues!!!

i will update in a week

Good call. I agree with the others, your best bet for her survival was in the DT. Watch her appetite and if she continues to feed well over time, you're likely in the home stretch.

Looking forward to seeing future pictures. :bounce3:

Thanks Triton, i did notice her appetite is not the same, she eats but not much

Thanks Chris,

Quick update, it got better, and then since yesterday it got a little worst, one of the small holes on the side of his gills and a little dot of puss, could this be the stress of moving to my display?

he is not eating as much, almost like he is scared of going in the open to long to eat the nori.

dont know if i need to hit the panic button yet, as i have no idea how to catch him if need be

Hey. Sorry we couldn't talk more about this earlier.

It may be that it's healing. Sometimes when damage like that heals it can exude pus like substance.

Don't panic yet just wait a bit.
