Naso Tang in 90 gallon

Hello all,

2 days ago my sister bought me a Blond Naso Tang for my 90 gallon tank. My wife love him [ I think ] we call him Sunny, he is about 4 inches. he still hasn't eating yet he just picks on the live rock. I've tried brown/green seaweed, Mysis shrimp, Pellet's but nothing.... He looks great and swims around no problem, there is a small clown and a scooter blennie in the tank as well. First off how do I get this guy to eat and after getting him I read up about the naso tang and everyone suggests to have a way bigger tank. My wife & myself really love this fish and would hate to give him up...Help Please...Thanks EJ

Everyone's gonna say "get rid of him, he needs a bigger tank" because this fish grows up to 18 inches. Just give him time, he will eat & eat & eat & then you will find yourself shopping for a 400 gallon tank.

I purchased my Naso tang 5 years ago and is only 7 inches long, he will never reach any super length. I have heard that saltwater fish are suppose to get 18 inches, etc. I had mine for 8 years, clown trigger is still 6 inches long, 2" when bought, etc. All my fish stay rather small in my 200 gallon tank. I feed everything I can and change water weekly.

I agree with buldog. Whatever fish we put in our tanks they will not grow to full size unless you have a VERY large system 500gal plus JMO

My male naso is now 10" + and growing. So i'd be careful and expect to get a larger tank when needed. As for eating, live brine always seems to work to get them started. Soak them in some selcon first before feeding as they are not that nutrious s they are. From there, you can try various foods with a emphisis on greens, seaweed or pellets made for herbivour fish.
