NCPARS Fall Frag Swap October 6th, Red Lion(York), PA

I'm definitely going to go to the swap, and I live near the art museum in Philly. If anyone needs a ride to the swap, and you live relatively close to me , shoot me a pm. Looks like it's going to be a great event...

I just wantedf to update everyone on the development of the day:

I just got off the phone with Dr. Mac and he said that he is coming.

He is bringing one of the tanks he brought to MACNA. He will be bringing a variety of livestock to sell.

He may do preorders if you contact him directly and bring it to the swap for you.

YAY, I OWN PAGE 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY, I OWN PAGE 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ATTENTION: For all of you who use Comcast as your email provider. Fragswapper as well as our website can not send you emails about the swap. For some reason the servers that our sites are using are on a black list or something for comcast.

ANYWAY... Here is the email I sent out for anyone who hasn't recieved it.

Hello All, Thank you for signing up for NCPARS Fall Swap in Redlion PA. Here is an update for your enjoyment.

Dr. MAC will be attending the swap and setting up one of his systems. Coral Freak will be there as well selling from his setup. NCPARS may have other vendors there as well, they have not confirmed yet.

NCPARS will be doing a fragging demo of which all frags go into the raffle. NCPARS is still receiving and working on donations which is why there hasn't been an update. Don't worry we will still be having an NCPARS raffle! You'll just have to come and see for yourself what is in the raffle.

NCPARS is always looking for used equipment as well as excessively overgrown corals that you no longer want. NCPARS can use them in the raffle as well as numerous tank projects in highschools across PA.

Please bring anything you can spare for our cause. Conservation Through Education!

Don't forget that this event is catered so there should be plenty of food and drinks for everyone. That means, call your friends (reefing buddies) and have them all come down for a good time.

NCPARS will be having two speakers joining us this time. Steven Pro and John Coppolino. There talks should be very interesting.

NCPARS is going to have a membership meeting, iron out some details for you, work on the nominations committee, and hopefully update you on the future calander as well as the progress made for the spring swap.

Thank you all for your time,

Rick Pucciarella

NCPARS,INC. President

OH yea, He made sure to ask me what to bring. I told him to bring a variety of his best. I know not everyone is into SPS so don't worry he will be bringing something for everyone. From looking at his website he has a nice selection right now, and his prices are very good.

thanks,

Rick

Hi everyone, looking forward to attending. Rick, can we have a link to Dr. Mac's website in this thread?

Also, I am personally donating a beautiful home-grown rose BTA to the raffle. Extremely hardy. It just not only survived a move with 24 hours out of the water, but it split! I think my gallery has a picture of its' mama.

I am ordering myself some NCPARS logo clothing and hope to have it at the swap. This way you can see it you want one! I think a few more Board members will be wearing similar clothing to help you make a choice if you are interested.

We will be able take orders at the swap and it will be shipped directly to your house.

Most sizes are available. Check them out here

See you and my new shirt at the swap!

Question about admission pricing:
"
* Non-Members - Individual - $15
* Non-Members - Family (same household) - $25
"

Does this mean you pay $10 more if you are bringing someone with you that is not buying/trading? Or do none reefers pay $25? Sorry I may just be tired, but the wording is confusing to me.

For $25 you can bring the family in. It helps cover food costs, hall rental, drinks, and any speakers or misc. cost.

The swaps for NCPARS are fundraisers for our primary purpose "Conservation through Education" which we do in schools, tank projects, trips, etc.

I hope this helps out. The admission fee is not so that you can swap that is why swaping is free, it is so you can enjoy a worry free day with food, fun, and education!

Members do not have to pay admission fees, swap fees, etc, they pay their yearly membership fee and come right on in!

Just to let those who are trading with my husband (Carto) and I know, we will not be there for the start of the swap at 10AM. We have someone coming over to our house at 9 and they won't be leaving until around 10. We have about an hour and a half drive, so I don't think we'll be there too much before noon.

Ricky,
I was reading the above posting by Gordonious. Is it worth discussing a change in the pricing to distinguish between "couples" and "family"? It certainly is a difference in food consumed if you bring two people or you bring your whole family complete with 5 kids. Heck, if I brought 5 of my students they'd clear your food table in less than an hour :) Just a thought.
Dyan

Thanks for that Rick, appreciate it. Dyan you do have a good point there with the food, lol. My gf probably won't touch most of the food there if it interferes with her diet, lol. Now I brought my little brother along it would be a different story. :-D
I'm looking forward to the swap. Do we know about how many people we think will be coming? Has your club had many swaps in the past and do you expect to have many more swaps in the next year or so?

Jon

we have at least two swaps, one in the fall and one in the spring.i think there is around 60 people registered to come at this time,i suspect there will be more in the remaining days .

thanks Dan

We do 2 swaps a year. Check out our website at www.ncpars.org

We also do other trips and things in between. Last year we did a collection trip on Long Island where we saw Lionfish, seahorses, butterflies, wrasses, and many other things. In fact most of my cleanup crew came from the botttom of Long Island!

We hope to do that again next year as it was educational and a extremely fun weekend for all.
