Need a Canopy

I'm wondering if there is anyone locally that can or will build a canopy to fit a 180 tank. I would be adding my MH's and VHO's.

If anyone knows someone with woodworking experience building canopies please post or Pm me. I know ABC does them but before I talk with them I would like to give someone local a chance first. Thanks...

Daverdo did a hell of a job with his stand! There used to be a guy in Roch named joeswoodworks or something that used to make them. Wood ain't gonna be cheap though.

I wish I knew what the heck I was doing, not sure if i'm keeping my tank, getting a new 180 or changing the tank, stand, and canopy. Millie at CF in Roch built mine and it came out great. I don't think she's doing much wood work these days. She's doing mainly acrylic stuff the last I heard.

Seth at City Zoo built a nice hanging canopy, but I'm not sure if he would do it for someone or not. Worth a shot though!

Thanks Cully.

I would be happy to help with a canopy, let me finish mine first. I started it 18 months ago only another 6-10 months work and it should be done. :D

Just don't have the time.

Neoz - I'm in the process of building a canopy for my tank, which let me say, WHY THE HELL DID I GET A CORNER BOWFRONT!?!?!?!?!?!?! After that is done and a DIY sump/fuge/ATO and overflow is done, I'd be more than happy to help. Rectangle canopies aren't all that complicated to build, but it does take some planning to make them look nice and have a snug fit. Are you wanting to suspend it above the tank or just have it rest on the top? I'm making mine so it just rests on the top with 2 doors in the front, but I may also cut in a piano hinge so I can flip the entire front half back on itself if the need arises. Once I really get it going, I'll post some pics in hopes of it giving you some help.

I want it to rest on the top of the tank. Also need the entire front to flip open like your talking about. My current one only the top opens and to reach the bottom of the tank is a pain because I have to reach down the height of the canopy as well.

Thanks reefscape but I'm not really looking for help as woodworking is not my cup of tea. Don't want to plan it, or build it, Just pay for it... LMAO......

HAHAHA!!!! Oh now this is actually a time that I can say I wish I was layed off! Actually....I guess I didn't say that....but I'd much rather be collecting unemployment and getting paid for building tank stuff on my own schedule than have to go to work every morning!

Geo (Blugobi) and St James of Reedom know someone in the Van Etten area that reportedly does great work.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I talked with Dave at ABC reefs and he is going to take care of me. Said it would take him a week is all. Now thats fast..
