Need a couple answers about a camera

Hello all, I am new to the photography part of this hobby and have been wanting to get a better camera for some time now. The best thing I have found so far in my $400-500 range is the canon EOS 350D rebel XT.

My questions are, is this a good camera? and what lens would I have to get to take some good macro shots, such as some detailed acropora shots?

Look at the "Happysak" pictures in this thread...

They were taken with a Canon Rebel and a Canon 100mm macro lens.

He uses a tripod and takes many shots to get a few good ones...but the camera is capable of wonderful photos...
