Need a dosing double check

So I decided to try a liquid calcium concentrate i have for dosing. And want to double check my dilution.

The product says 1oz. per 500g will raise Ca 7ppm.

I have a est. 50g of water volume.

I want to dilute the product in 1g RO water and dose from that. So if I do, then dosing 1oz. of the mixed product should increase my Ca in tank by .55ppm. Does this sound correct? Or am I way out of whack, its been a long day.

1oz in 500g= 7ppm
1oz in 50g= 70ppm
1g=128oz so
1oz diluted in 1gal= .55ppm

The product is called liquid calcium hardness up, from GLB. After the pool products discussion I decided to set up a small extra tank to experiment with dosing them. So dose the math sound correct, otherwise? If so I will mix up a batch and start checking actual levels.

Ah, I see one issue. They are referring to it as a calcium hardness increaser, not calcium, so the units they are talking about are probably units of ppm calcium carbonate. Multiply by 0.4 to get ppm of calcium (or multiply the volume needed by 2.5).

I also see on a web site that they also claim:

1 oz. of LIQUID CALCIUM HARDNESS UP per 700 gallons of water increases hardness by 7 ppm.

Which is different, and even higher potency that you quoted.

They may be measuring by fluid ounce, not weight ounce. This material will likely have a density more than water by quite a bit, so 1 fluid ounce weighs more than 1 ounce.

So I’d have to say I really do not know what to believe about it. :D

Thanks for the additional input Randy. Lol, I guess its will be a true experiment. I'll update when I have some true data.
