Need a RO/DI system, but need some help

I know nothing about these and could use some tips. Does the size of the tank matter for what RO/DI system I get? What are some good name brands that arent going to burn my wallet? What is the maintainence on those? How often do I need to replace things?

Tank size matters to a point but for the most part you are looking for a unit that has a Filmtech 75gpd membrane.

AFAIK all of the units sold by RC sponsors use that membrane.

A membrane can last 3-5 years depending on water quality. The pre-filters are changed when needed based on amount of water passed through them.

I have a Brs unit. I use about 15 gallons a week of rodi and maybe 5 of ro (for drinking). I replace the prefilter every 3-4 months, I push the carbon blocks to 8 months and the DI resin as needed (maybe every 6 months). I try buy the replacement kits when they go on sale at Brs.

Maybe $60 a year in filters?

i bought the 75 GPD RO/DI 5 Stage *PLUS* System with 150gpd water saving upgrade kit with a booster pump (on a well) from BRS. Works great!

Yup, worth every penny.
